Is it possible to change the depth of the spare wheel well in an ED wagon?
my spare rim does not fit in there properly - well - it fits in, but the wooden board / floor of the wagon will not close all the way when the wheel is in there. It doesnt bother me when I have the matress in the back - cos i dont see it, but when I dont have the matress in there, it looks stupid, cos the floor is at an angle. its not like I have a monster truck wheel in there either. its only a 17x8 - and the same wheel fits perfectly into the boot of my XR8. (thats where it is now - and I dont have a spare in my wagon)

id imagine it would be, it'd be just the same steel as the body, so any body shop should be able to cut it and weld an extra piece in there to make it deeper...

just about the say that, why have a huge spare? just get a high profile narrow 15" save weight and have more room for radiator pipes, leads, jumper leads, and some rags!

When I fitted LPG to my wagon, I got a spare wheel compartment fibreglass cover with the kit to replace the std board, it does have a bulge, if you can find someone with the same, try it in yours and see if it gives you enough clearance, and if so, perhaps get one from an LPG supplier.
Carpet, mats, etc will still fit okay over it.

I dont have a 15" wheel to put in the Fairy.
and I mean - if the wheel fits fine in the sedan, why would they make the depth of the spare wheel well smaller in the wagon?? I might try the LPG Cover thingo, if I can find anyone with one here. (I only know of 1 LPG car here - and its a sedan)

IIRC Amber's wagon has been converted, dunno how far from you she is, but I suppose the answer's only a PM away.

If the board is flat, replacing it with a dished one may solve your problem. I can't see how you can make the spare wheel well deeper, unless you fit a custom fuel tank.
