History - Finally got the rear wing. Wet n dried back to original primer and some fiberglass on edges. 3-4 coat's of plastic primer then WnD P1000. I have a can of topcoat (silver) and another can of clear.

What I am not certain about is the sanding inbetween coat's. Should I apply 2-3 light but covering coat's of topcoat then WnD back, then the same for clear ??

or should I WnD inbetween each coat ?????

Yes aply your top coats, then use old fine sand paper & a bucket of soapy water. The soap help reduce the affect of the sand paper just enough so as that I won't dull the top coat too much, then after your coats of clear are done give it a 'very light' rub the same way (soapy water & old paper)and then buff it. Thats the way we done it at the crash repairs I worked at. I remember B4 buffing we used an old scourer w/soap & water then a buff. cars used to come up like mirrors.

Noyhing too it. Get the right equipment, compressor + spray gun + paint + thinners, and your set. Search the net theres stuff out there on sraying your car. :)

In terms of 'easyness', it would be easier for someone else to do it because while they are doing it, you could sit on your a** and watch them, read a book or do something else like log in and have a yarn on FordMods, all of which would be far more easier than respraying your car yourself :D

but definately cheaper... would it be possible to get the same effect if not beter... i no ppl that could teach me

while on the topic of spraypainting...we've got some scratches in our bonnet...just wondering if there is any cheap repari that we can do...or would it look s**t?

how bad are the scratches.. are they noticeable or can you only see them wen you are washing it

itz like the protective layer has come off....
and there are some small scratches down the back...

Thanx's, It was the soapy water that was having trouble remembering. :roll:

Looking a sprayguns lately and there seems to be 2 styles (<$100) Low & High Pressure. I have a $98 compresser from Supercheap and was wondering what the pro's and con's are between Low & High?? ps. I have had a quick look but couldn't find anythuing on this question

Well i think it means that high pressure (low volume) spray guns are more directional, kind of thing. They have less overspray, and dont waste as much paint when your spraying something. For eg, a high pressure low volume gun will use 60-80% or even more (if you pay big $$$) of the paint. So only 20-40% of the paint is lost when its travelling through the air etc..


The low pressure guns, are the opposite of the above guns, they generally only spray 40% of the paint, and the rest is lost through the greater oversray etc etc..

Now, i think that might be correct lol, because my dad was looking for buying a high pressure low volume gun to spray kitchen cabinet doors. Thats how he explained it to me, hopefully i was listening properly :)

Kool, That would also mean that the high pressure gun would pay for itself in paint savings not to meantion better for the environment :P

You need a compressor that has a power rating of at least 2.5 HP if not 3 HP cause this ain't like a nail gun, you need a lot of air to do this and the smaller compressors just won't keep up. Personal experience mate...
