Ok since people are lazy anyone wanna give us some instructions on this mod of taking the orange out of the tail light, i wanna get it done tomorrow during my free periods at the end of the day for school.
I'll come home to do it. So far ive gathered you use a hot stanley knife blade or knife or something to cut it open. Questions about this, how do i go about getting the blade hot and keeping it that way? Where abouts do i cut it? Then you re seal the taillight after the mod with silicone. Ive got orange bulbs, just need to know the first few facts and resealing the light. Cheers guys.

hi....
best way to keep the stanley knife hot is use a candle or gas torch... you can also use a butter knife but it may take longer. when you cut the lense, you cut where the outside lense meets the black plastic and you can also pry them apart gently after you have cut it... Be careful and be patient.. Try not to crack the outside lense... it took me about two hours to get them apart... then when you silicone back together make sure you have a good seal... (so they dont leak). i used black gasket silicone and sticky tape to hold the lense in place whilst the siliconed dried.. Good luck... |

i used a dremel and cut the actual housing (so as to avoid killing the lense) took about 1/2 an hour per side then glued it back together, still have to get orange globes before i put them in

I went to supercheap and got a $20 dremil wannabe tool, did the job for me and I cut the housing to save the lense aswell. It is a time cinsuming job and if you rush it you will crack it.
Good luck and when done you will be happy with the results |

Dunno about boxcar lights, but I've pulled apart EF/EL lights, and found the best way was put the whole light in a cooling oven (let it heat up, turn it off) for a few minutes (trial and error here), and pull the thing apart in one go being careful not to burn yourself. If the light is hot enough it'll be easy, too cold and you'll be fighting it all the way, and possible damage it.
