You need Red, amber and white. Heat the brake light assy. in the oven and remove the lens from the housing. Cut the prototype board to fit inside the lens. Design your own Brake/ Park/ Indicator, and reverse light combo. If you connect 4 LEDs in series you don't need to use resistors. Connect all the positive and neg ends together (of course for each function, i.e. all the brake lights together, all the parking lights together .....). Connect each set of LED to the wiring of your car. Cost you far less and now you got a one off tail light assy.

(as seen at the Sydeny Dyno day) It is not who did what ages ago, that makes it a one off. The fact that he will design the LEDs his own way and no one else will make a similar set up makes it a one off. By the way, do you have any pics of your tail lights on the vehicle and in function? Love to see how the result of using so many LEDs turned out to be.

Having gone through my photo collection, not really.
{DESCRIPTION} That'd be it, and by accident. Suffice to say they work ok (haven't been rear ended), and no coppers have bugged me. I'll have to organise some better shots. The only other ones I have are a few dodgy night shots during my development phase - using a broken left side taillight. {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION}

Thanks, for posting the pics and NO I did not look at your photo collection earlier. But did it now. It look very well done. And yes please when you get some time take some good pics of the tail lights during night time. Tell me how does your rear spoiler LED light bar function? Brake lights only or?

spoiler is brake light only.
The brake lights, have 40 LEDs, that all light up, and all light up dim for parkers. Indicators has 30, and reverse have 10. (all per side numbers)

(all per side numbers) If you could remove the fluted lens and replace it with a plain one (that is if your Brake/Park are Red LEDs, your Indicators are Amber and your reverse White. The LED effect would be far more visible. Don't take me wrong, I like what you have done. It look very nice. I am all for LEDs. However, the problem with fluted lenses are that through them you can't always see all the LEDs perfectly. How about turning the spoiler LED as parkers as well as Brake lights??? Would look awesome. A complete LED rear end. That is a sight to see.

I think making the spoiler into a tail light too, would be bad - ie. no longer legal.

I think making the spoiler into a tail light too, would be bad - ie. no longer legal. Agree with you, they are visible as a light source. But not as individual LEDs at a distance. One of the problems that needed to be resolved when LEDs were introduced as light source on vehicles. Standard filament bulbs need to have a reflector and subsequently need to have a fluted (patterned) lens to magnify and make the light emitted from the reflector in different directions for better visibility. Using a fluted lens with LEDs make them look like if they are behind a safety glass in the shower. That is why all the lenses where LEDs are used in OEM are designed differently. Just for the fun of it one day when you get some time try a piece of plain (with no patterns) red plexiglass or something similar in front of the LEDs and you will see what I mean. They won’t just look like regular lights, they will look awesome and individual. By the way, amongst few other vehicles on the roads in Australia, Honda GoldWing 1500 SE, has had the spoiler LED bar on the rear top trunk as both brake and park light as OEM and ADR approved, since 1990.

Must hav interpreted the ADRs differently, if the GW is ok.
As for the light bezels, I lack the skills adn equipment to build something of a quality I'd be happy with as a replacement to the exisiting, so I think (in my case at least) they'll remain stock. But I do know what you mean. The M3's have little bezels in front of each LED, making each one appear individual, while still having a good light spread. I like that effect.
