I'm f**k p****d off Last night when driving home from watching the State of Origin at a mates place, the Lane had an LPG backfire. Normally doesn't bother me too much as I have an Occy strap holding down the airbox lid at the moment for just this reason, until I can get my hands on a set of ICE leads. But last night the bang must have been so big that the strap let go with such force that it actually put a ding in the bonnet I didn't notice it myself, until the missus showed me this arvo when I got home from work, and 3 days out from the Koala park show. Not happy Jan!!! Time to get the new leads ASAP, but too late now I suppose

Thanks Tezza,
previously the bonnet only had a few stone chips in it, but no dings or rust. Now that the ding has caused the paint to crack, i'll either have to get it repaired or full respray or the rust will start to form under the damaged paint. All of this because I have been putting up with the backfires instead of just going out and getting a new set of leads. I have been trying to find out where to get a set of ICE leads in Newcastle in another thread, and I now have a number in Melbourne to call, but the worst case scenario has happened and the body work has been damaged. Oh well! Live and Learn I suppose.

have u tried the NGK plugs apparently there good for gas conversions. & check the pipe from ur MAF sensor to throttle body if its cracked or split it can cause it back fire...

Pipe from MAF to TB is fine, for now I'm pretty sure it's the leads causing it, they are 8mm top guns but look pretty old. From what I have read and heard, ICE are the way to go. Not worried about the extra cost, if they stop the backfiring then I will be one happy boy. I even noticed when I replaced the plugs a few weeks ago that the two front leads on both sides of the block are the wrong size. They are the same size as the 3rd row set, previous owner must have had damaged the correct size and replaced them with whatever was on hand, not sure if this could be causing problems but they are sort of looped around.
