georgio_300: mine has a LSD. It's entirely up to you, but i enjoy my LTD. Comfy, sounds great and looks pimp

yes i can. a grandpa car driving on the highway all its life will be alot better condition internally then a modified motor with lots of short driving and thrashing.

yes all E-series Fairlane and LTD came with LSD.

They didnt actually...
I had an NL Concorde V8 that had a single in it.

hey Rick. owned :D

you actually had to de-option the LTD to get it with a 6.
thats why they are so rare.

Unfortunately it's still on the vicroads restricted list, so you can't drive it.

But to be honest, I don't really see a point in waiting for an LTD. Don't get me wrong, I love LTD's but I'd wait till I'm off my P's and get a clean V8 then. In saying that, just get an NL Fairlane Ghia man. The only difference is basically
- The grille (just chuck one on the fairlane)
- The premo sound: Option on the fairlane, but would most likely be sh;thouse now with ratteling sub, sunburnt brittle rear speakers and mould infested crackly front speakers. All this can be fixed like I did on my ghia but its not really worth the effort tbh. So you'd replace it anyway.
- Leather seats (Just a different shape and slightly more supportive really. I think late NL Fairlane ghias came with stock leather anyway, which were the ones found on the Fairmont Ghia)
- Electric Seats (Most likely slow anyway)
- Self Leveling suspension (I heard they're sh;t, and a b;tch to lower)
- Few extra trim bits here and there like woodgrain, pads, etc

Not really worth fussing over and you can always fit the LTD parts anyway.
Having said that, here are two clean fairlanes for you too have a look at, one even has an LTD grille

Hope this helps

Hey all. I just bought my first Fairlane and thought id share her here.
She only has 113,000km on the dial, is like new inside and only has a couple of minor dents. Runs great and I absolutely love it.

thanks for the input TheELghia
yeah dw i'm considering all options, just i would prefer an ltd, cause its pretty much all that my family has owned, my grandfather had a 77 P6, and 88 Da (which he gave to me) and he also had an 86 for a little while. I am however going to call up vicroads and see if i can get an exception (no harm in asking) but if nothing comes up then i'm going to have to go for a lane :)
hahaha verry good point EA_SVO_90

i have owned and driven alot of fairlanes and LTD's and i can honestly say you dont get the attention in any of the newer models. NA/NC DA/DC is where its at. if i was you id hold onto the DA and just keep driving it. she seems like a great rig so unless there was something that you honestly needed in the newer model i wouldnt bother upgrading it yet.

yeah i know what your mean, I love the shape of the DA/NA's but there's just way to many problems with it. I think the NF/NL's a really good looking cars too, i'm not a fan of the au and up.
my three favorite shapes in order are 77 P6, 88 DA, 97 NL so the dl is in my top three. Plus there are the safety features and the newer models are a bit more comfortable. I'm not happy that iI have to get rid of her but it must be done :|
