It's great to see so many fairlane and ltd's owners here.

I hope to be a a proud owner of one myself soon..

I was wondering what the differences are between the NL fairlane ghia and the DL LTD.

I know that the LTD has power seats and chrome window strips but apart from that they seem very similar.. I believe that the NL had leather standard as well?

Thanks in advance

I'm no expert on these later ones but I thought that DL LTD's had as std cappa leather, but NF Fairlanes had cloth as std and grey or cappa leather was optional.

Both LTD and Fairlane have window chrome.

NF is velour only. NL had leather as an option. Both DF and DL LTD have cappuccino leather.

LTD has different woodgrain and more of it, the premium audio that was optional in the fairlane, V8 as standard equipment, different grille, bonnet emblem and boot spear, maybe a few other things i forgot.

Alot of the Fairlanes got optioned up however. Half of the NLs I have seen have leather, and many Lanes had the 5.0 option. Mine for example has the V8, Sunroof and LSD (which may have been included with all v8s).

I'll stop photo whoring now, I just was proud of how it looks post-detail. The difference is amazing. Had to show off the result!

Thanks :D

Its a shame they don't make them anymore. Especially since Ford invented created the LWB market, and then were the first to pull out :(

They didn't all get sunroofs otherwise mine would have one  ! that thing is for an antenna for phones, friend of mine has a NL 5.0 with no LSD only 98K on it so you wouldn't think they'd remove it already!?

Yeah they are all pre-wired for a car phone. I have the antenna in the glovebox, it just screws on. There is a plug under the parcel shelf for it.

Huggiebear, LSD was definitely an option on NF/NL. A few things got cut from the budget compared to the NCII. Another example is the s**t mid-series stereo instead of the high-series (which NCII had).

Doesn't matter about the LSD anyway, I killed it. Singles since the new motor went in

Fairlane 6970, I didn't mean they all had the sunroof, just meant alot seemed to have been optioned up.

Aristopwr, Its Heritage Green, looks very different in the sun to how it does in the dark. Alot of people think my car is black lol.

The interior is stock NF, with the addition of an NL woodgrain shifter surround, Leather handbrake and auto shifter and a chrome shifter nut. Not sure if the stereo counts as an interior mod. It still has the original floormats too :D

Have a few engine bay shots too. The motor is from an AU, so has the Explorer, GT40s, bigger TB and injectors, also have a full exhaust etc. We painted it all up before it went in. Just has water in the coolant tank to flush the dirty motor, thats why its brown  Photo was taken the day the conversion was finished.

the factory NCII premium sound systems went hard... mne had a short so the rears and sub would crackle.. removed the sub and found out why.. there was nothing left of it lol after that i hooked up a single 12" sub and the system hammered.. then i removed the lot :P

Yep ! mine has the premium but when i got it there was no sub as that gave way to the Gas tank... so i went out and got a boxed 12" and the sound is amazing, so much so that there's no need for me to upgrade... plus i gots cassette goodness LOL
I run my iPod through it and it's mad!
