Hope it all works out for you Mar55s.....shouldn't be too hard to come up with the parts required......whether they happen to be the right colour will be the challenge. Good luck bringing it back to life mate..........never good to see them off to the scrap metal yard.

Cheers,
Mick

PS. My father in law is upgrading to a 4wd pretty soon, so his much loved DL LTD may be on the market. I am trying to convince him to sell it privately rather than trade it for next to nothing, but will let you know when it comes up. It's white and a 6 with capa leather interior, but in mint condition. The good part of this story is he thinks it is only worth a couple of grand at best, so depending on timing, it may just be worth considering for the right coin

Probably just as many 6's as there are 8's mate

http://www.redbook.com.au/used-cars/det ... 9D882C6873

And yes, it is matching numbers.....stock as a rock with those much sought after LTD stockies
Only fault with it is the drivers side rear view mirror was damaged and replaced with a black one.....other than that it's near perfect!

A 6 was an option in them, so was velour. I think the car was cheaper that way too.

I know it's probably not the cheapest option, but, there was a NF at C.Young auto wreckers at Chipping Norton about two weeks back and I think there is one at Fairford spares too.

You do know that you only have to source Fairmont parts for the panels?

The bonnet, bar and latch are the same as a Fairmont, and the guards are the same from a GLi.

Things like the grill etc can be sourced separately.

Cheers
BenJ

I was going to say this, but figured it was common knowledege.

Sometimes seemingly common parts can be hard to get though. Some wreckers will still want a premium for the high series parts too.

All the best with finding the bits you need, and getting them at the right price!

Yeah I knew about the Fairmont/lane caper so all is good.. the only thing that seems a bit overpriced so far is the DL Grille.. i think i'll end up just getting the NL grille or maybe the Fairmont Ghia one... looks nice enough..

So, a few weeks ago my AU got written off. I began the search for it's replacement and got offered a 1994 NC Fairlane Ghia, The Slowlane. The Lane has a set of 17's, Koni Red's all round, Kings Superlow front, Pedders rear springs. Performance wise, there is a Thermo fan setup, some Pacemaker 4480's with a 3" outlet, stock cat (for now) and a mandrell bent 2.5" exhaust with 2 mufflers. enough Talk, heres the pics!

Cheers guys. This Lane is nearly perfect, so I only have a few plans. I failed to mention the front spring seats are on the highest setting, and the rear has 25mm of spring spacers, so it can comfortably come down another inch!

Looks very clean. Such a shame about the XR8.

Wish I was in QLD. How warm is it now? We are descending into an icy winter here....
