hey,
have a el fairmont and on the doors it has that black trim, which looks like some type of heat shrink, is sun damaged. what exactly is this material, and can i replace it? also on the rear doors on the triangle windows. the black rubbers around it. which when new are smooth and shiney, once again the sun has got to it and has started to go rough and colour change. can you get them re-serfaced or replaced.?
thanks :)

what part of the doors is it on? are you talking about behind the trims?

As for the 1/4 window surrounds theres a tech doco on it here:

thanks,
yeah it's on the outside of the doors that make to windows look like one. when doors are closed, they line up in the centre of the car. the black shrink on the doors. looks just like heat shrink. cant really paint em.. their is car body paint under em, but i mean they do look good being black. makes the side of the car look like one, and i'm not sure of the condition of the paint under em.
cheers :D

thanks for that link. very helpful. was not sure if you could paint it.. the DIY shows both the rear windows on the doors, and the door centre strips being painted. might look into doing it.\

thanks

Are you are refering to the window frame over the 'B' Pillar?
You must be able to buy the stick on stuff that goes on that part. As it was replaced when the drivers door on my EL was damaged.

No I was refering to a sticker like coating that goes over the top of the window frame. Black with a texture to it.
