Hmm not sure if this is the right forum...
I have front tires almost on there wear limiters and rears well into the wear lim... one bout a mil and a 1/2 off bald . eh there about 3 years old. 17x8 rims current tires are Goodyear something (there were pretty much top of the range)... not sure of the model but they are f**k great tires... got them almost new with the car. Now I'm pretty sure there on the pricy mark. Any one Know of the price of them for a set of 4... or if anyone has some recomendations on rubber for peformance in a good price range or any other sugestions would be great.

I just picked up 5 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s for $260 per tyre. They're fcuking unreal tyres! Stick like glue even on on very slippery roads.

I was about to type the same thing. Every tyre has different characteristics and for different cars and people like different things. Trial and error my friends and this also depends on your budget. There are too many variables IMO.

They are fantastic. Cant get much better. Falkens are great if you love drifting ... cos they have no grip (except the Azenis semi-slicks). I just put Dunlop SP3000As on the XG ute ... they set me back $200 a tyre .. and they have been good in the wet and the dry (same rubber as on the new XRs)

i have some Pirelli DRAGON 235/40 ZR17TL 94W on 17x8's
I have been more then happy... nice and grippy, and quiet! my orig RE92's were louder. IIRC they were about 220-240 a tyre?

Yokohamas are a great tyre too, they are mostly for performance so dont expect more than 30,000kms out of them. Unless your a sensible driver that is.

I had a set of Yoko A539s on my last car .... fantastic tyre ... loved it ... a little soft though .. but great in the wet and the dry. They have been pushing the new Yoko C-drive's now as well ... any thoughts on them ... I am looking at new tyres soon for 17"s ... so I need to have a look around ... it'll either be Dunlop or Yoko. But to through another spanner in the works I have heard the Kuhmo Ecsta 711 or 712 tyres are not too bad either.

I'm putting a set of yokie c.drives on the XR tomorrow and sticking them on eastern creek on saturday, I'll let you know what I think, I had a set of yokie a 539's on my last car followed be a set of bridgestone gIII's so I can give you a pretty good cross section, the c.drives are the tyre to relace the a 539's so most tyre places should be doing a runout price on the a539's. might be worth looking at. the GIII's were nice but a little hard and noisy for my taste. full report on c.drives at a latter date, see how well they hold up to some punishment first.

Yeah go the C- drives dude they are excellent!!! Thats what i have on the XR atm, a bloody good tyre, excellent in the wet and sticky as on a dry day too! Minimal noise as well!!! But damn they are expensive!! for a larger 15' sized tyre (235/60) i paid $180 each for the rear tyres. Oh yeah they fit too!! totally not meant too be but i got some funky fat tyre on the rears of my XR lol. With 205/65 at the front its got a cool raised look to it.

Damn .... it's not much more for the 235/45R17s then ... I was quoted $200 per tyre for the C-Drives a little while ago when I purchased the Dunlops.
