Hey all, Just want to know what would be best to get tree sap off the paint on my car. I have used normal car washing gear with no success.
Cheers. |

I've actually used WD40 to get it off before, but you may not be comfortable with that. Nothing bad happened to the paint that I can notice.

try a product called De-Solv It. its a citrus based oil that dissolves most sticky spots/stains/dirty s**t thats hard to get rid of.
i did it to some packing tape residue on the car, sprayed it on, left it for 5 minutes, and wiped it off, gone. its safe to use on car paint, just make sure to wash it off with soapy water after you have wiped it clean.

had the same problem really hard stuff which wouldn't come off, until had a reasonably heavy rain and it just softened it up that u could wipe it away without any troubles, i'd try almost soaking it somehow with water maybe

I found with pine sap let it harden then using a sharp knife push it down on the top of the sap and it crack off no damage. It cracks off before you get to the paint.

put the car in the sun and let it heat up use some wax and grese remover.
then when you get it off use polish to remove it, wet some cheese cloth not too much and use polish this will stop you cutting into the paint to much.

All great ideas. Another is to use FW1 Waterless cleaning wax. The lubricants and cleaners in it dissolve tar and sap in no time
Just spray it on and work in with your fingers until the sap is removed A combo of soaking the area with water or quick detailer, the FW1 and a clay bar and perhaps a wet razor blade should get even the worst sap off
