Hi,

Just looking at buying (off eBay) a typhoon bumper with the XR6 lights to put onto my el gli. Is this something that can be done?

Thanks

You will have to change the bonnet, different headlights and side indicator/parker assemblys. Will turn out to be an expensive project as its not very often that XR6 stuff comes up cheap.

Cheers, Justin

I have plenty of time on hand and got the car for next to free, so I'm thinking will go for it anyway. Do the XR headlights have different brackets? Or do they line up with gli bolts?

Thanks

This is a very straight forward guide and the same process should apply to your bumper is it the one I am thinking of. The only thing with ebay bodykits is they may not be the same quality and IIRC people have had issues with the bolt holes lining up perfectly

The last thing I want is for the damn thing to not line up, do you know of any reliable sources I can get one?

Phat kustom kits make e series typhoon bars. However I would be careful. Some members on here have had nothing but trouble with these kits not lining up and not being very flexible. I am wanting one of these bars for my XH XR 8 ute but like you am reluctant at buying a dodgy product. You could also give ssv.com a go. I here good things about there products.

I'm definatly feeling ssv.com, would the fairmont kit bolt straight onto my gli? Or will there be similar problems as with the XR bumper?

I think it will bolt straight on. However I would get a second opinion just incase. Can never be to careful. You should be able to send ssv.com an email and ask them.

Fairmont bar will bolt up to your GLi but you will need to fit Fairmont bonnet, Lights and Bonnet catch. Other option is to fit the EF bonnet (same shape as XR) EF GLi Lights and a grill similar to the one supplied with the Venom Bar.

SSV are just a resller, if you want a Phoon bar to suit your EF/EL contact Newgel www.newgel.com.au

Their quality is exceptional.

Yeah I thought of newgel, but thought the prices would be too expensive. I sent them an email anyhow. Thanks for the input

Stay away from Phat Custom Kits whatever you do mate, i know ssv are a reseller but i went with them after dealing with PCK and all i have is praise for their kit, the result turned out perfect :-)

Newgel too expensive, they make the bar and sell it to SSV. Newgel last pricing I had was $650 including lights and mesh, SSV $770 not including lights. Yaaa go SSV.
