im looking into getting my ed xr6 sedan lowered, local place said they could lower using ultralow springs for $600,does this sound like a decent price?im new to modding cars so i have no clue.
they said it would sit about 2.5 inches lower all round, would that be legal? |

600 bucks for just the springs thats alot of money i got my springs doe for 300. im pretty sure springs are 250 bucks so 350 is alot to pay for labour.

half a Saturday and an angle grinder, there you have it, a lowered E-series falcon

ultralows are 150 a pair..so 300 for the set all round then labour..not forgetting u need new shocks..
so if its supply of springs AND shocks + fit then its a good price..no shocks- dont bother |

Chopped my ea springs, wasn't a very nice ride. Bought a set of ultralows for $220 from repco (trade price) and fitted myself

Not sure about the price as Ive never let anyone lower my car but myself, long as your aware you may have to fit a camber kit and its definitly worth getting shocks, I had ultras + std shocks for a while and just fitted a pair of lowered shocks in the rear and its such an improvement.

i bought a set of lovells superlows second hand from my mechanic for a $100
he came round on the weekend and we had them fitted within a couple of hours... rears were fairly easy but the fronts were a pain in the a** i wasnt really happy with the way the car sat, so we cut a coil off each of the springs = ultralows went for a quick test drive and the ED handles like a lambo would recommend getting shortened shocks though, ride isnt very comfy...

king spring trade is 125 a set, about an hour a side for the fronts and half an hour to fit the rears @88per hour is $220 + 250 for springs is 470.
id suggest get springs yourself for trade or second hand even cheaper and only pay mechanic for labour

Your looking at $900-1000 to get it done right. Shortened shocks for the rear, ultralows front and back, camber kit for the front and labour. Shortened shocks cause its that low its really bumpy, camber kit cause again its that low the front camber gets messed about. Its well worth it thought my ghia is lowered at that height with the above done, toughens em up.
...ps make sure you check the wheels nuts.....

btw... anything lower than the lowest stock option is illegal... well in SA anyway (Apparently we have more lenient laws, but more defects)
The advantage to E-Series falcons was the authorised aftermarket tuners (Brock, ect.) , who legally lowered the falcons more than factory, so I guess that would be the reference. Its not uncommon for brand new FG F6's or GT's to get defected for being too low a minute it leaves the showroom floor, due to incorrect tyre pressures. SAPOL is one ludicrous mob. |
