Huggiebear, The supercharger kit cost $3000, but i only ended up using the bracket and blower in the end. Another $3000 was spent on the Gas research setup, and an additional $1000 or so for the intercooler piping setup. Then there was a few miscelaneous bits and peices such as BOV, CAI, tensioner stop etc.
Phongus, My friend is spraying it free of charge. All i haveto pay for is obviously the paint, and paint booth booking. Paint and materials (sandpaper etc) cost all up about $800-$900, and the booth we a renting costs $100 an hour, so should work out to be about $400 for the booth (it's normally $70 an hour but because it's a sunday they charge $100). The booth comes with everything you need, all you haveto supply is a spray gun, paint and the obviously the car BossXR8, Did you speckle the surface prior to sanding? If not, what you do is get a black spray can and very lightly just go over the primed panel (VERY lightly, so it only speckles). Then it's simply wet rubbing with a sanding block first in 800grit then again quickly in 1200. The speckle will show you exaclty were you've already sanded and if there is any texture left. Also make sure to sand in a circular motion evenly, and gradually go over the whole bootlid making sure to overlap the last section sanded as your sanding the new (If you don't then it can cause ripples in the surface). Hard to explain but you should get a perfect finish this way. That's pretty much exaclty how i did it, pretty simple really. USE ALOT OF WATER, can't stress that enough, it will make your paper last longer and your prep work will turn out better, without sufficient water, you run the risk of getting dull spots in the surface. It also makes sure no dirt or excess bits of the sandpaper get caught inbetween, which will cause deep scratches in the primer. Dust is a big problem when spraying in a garage, so make sure the area you a sraying in is absolutely clean, even go to the extent of laying down wet newspaper to make sure no dust gets thrown up when spraying. Try and get the area that you are spraying warm enough, as spraying in the cold will mean your paint will take longer to cure and you will get more chance of dust settling on the surface. Best thing to do is rent out a booth for peice of mind. Only other thing i can say is that if your spraying 2 pak over acrylic or enamel, make sure the you don't sand through the primer in any spots, as the 2 pak will reacte to the acrylic and will cause the new paint to shrink and ripple. Hope that helps |

Hard to say, but i'm hoping for about 210rwkw.It was origionally dynoed at 188.6rwkw, that's with an auto, standard timing maps and water injection. Since then, it's been converted to manual, a haltech has been purchased to adjust the timing (since it runs EF system i had NO way of adjusting), a bigger cooler was put on, the intake was heavily ported and the water injection has been taken out. So i'm hoping that will give me a fair pickup in power. Only problems i found with supercharging is that it is quite expensive compared to turboing for about the same power levels. Also, it's quite common to have problems with belt slippage. To get around it, i've had my Auto belt tensioner modyfied to have a stop placed on them. I did it as i wanted something different to the norm, as turbo e-series seem to be getting quite common. Unfortunately you haveto pay more for being different :/ The standard stage 2 kit from capa costs around $5000-$6000, but a second hand one can be had for around $3000. The stanard 9psi stage 2 kit comes with blower, bracket/pulleys, chip, injectors, fuel pump, piping, BOV and water injection. If you were to purchase my blower seperately, you'd be paying about $3000 (from memory) for the headunit, and an additional $700 or so for the bracket. I do regret getting this particular blower as it cannot run any more than 9psi, meaning a bolt on upgrade would set me back another $4000-$5000 for the better powerdyne model. The 15psi kit cost about $8000, but comes with cooler and uses a vortech blower rather than the powerdyne the other kits use. The place is called Capa supercharger systems, they are based in South australia but will obviously ship interstate. Website is: http://www.capa.com.au/ Thanx for all the positive feedback guys, seems almost surreal that it's finally getting done. I'm soooo sick of that stupid off white primer colour Only 7 hours left till the towtruck gets here. I slept this afternoon so now i'm wide awake, will be getting out there quite early to do the last bit of cleaning. Stay tuned for pics pics pics!!!! |

before the car heads off, can you get me a few detailed pics of the supercharger system?
fair enough turbo might be cheaper for the same power but superchargers whine , me and a few friends are looking into getting a mate we know to customise the broadband manifold to house a eaton m90 on the top, so hopefully if this can be done soon enough i will invest in one |
