you need a little hatch type door in the top o fthe hard lid. had one come through work the other day with two doors on the top of the hard lid, just a touch smaller than an average size esky lid (think the width of an average esky squared) that would be perfect for keeping it all cold inside and only opening enough to let you at the beer.

yeah that ute was the reason i was gonna do it in the first place, doesn't look like hes done anything to it other than just fill the tray with ice. i think i'll use a tarp anyway, thanks for the input guys
