G'day all.

I am keen on owning a Falcon ute or tray top. At this stage I'm be position to do so early next year. Now the question is do I buy an AU or use my existing Fords and make an EA/EB V8 ute/tray. I have an EA Wagon that used to be my fathers that I keep just for sentimental reasons and an EB V8 Fairmont Ghia that would make a good donotor for the mechanical side of things.

Now getting to the point does anyone have knowlegde of an E series wagon being converted to a ute/tray or even better know of any business that actually carry out such a conversion.

Obiously the idea would be to have a 5 litre V8,auto ute/tray with Ghia dash and interior.

Any suggestions (positive that is) will be appreciated.

well it would be cheaper to buy an au when it comes down to it. After getting a conversion like that engineered the bill would be pretty high.

Could always get an XH ute and put the V8 from the fairmont into that.

Hillia did ute in EA form but the were very expensive and i expect they would have been wagon conversions

a while ago i read about a company that does these type of conversions, but from memory there is alot of work involved.

probably easier to get the AU/BA ute, but on the other side of the cion youdd have one very unique e-series if you did ute it.

Thanks so far. Now that it is mentioned I to remember Hillia doing an EA. From memory they used the inner tray of a XD/XH ute and the exterior EA panels modified to fit around the inner tray. Oh and to remove the rear doors etc. I may have to try and find thier web site.

I am planning on around $20,000 but if it is not going to produce one individual and exotic EA/EB then the other option would be the go.

Back in Cairns, there is a lad running around in a EB ute, converted from a wagon... Looks very hot, but took him around 3yrs to do it... Its a dark blue colour, has a 5ltr v8 in it, very nice machine

Yeah know the one you are talkin about. Have got it in a mag somewhere. Will try to find it and post pics. Did a double take when I saw it!! Doesn't look too bad though and apparently has a heap more interior room than an XH.

I reckon an AU tray back with an XR front and bodykit would look sick.

hey MAW, personally i dont see the point of converting an ea wagon into a ute. if your doing it for fun or want something different then fair enough, go for it :) would be good to see. but if you just want a v8 ute you should just pick up a ba 3v one, prob get one for about 16-17k

The EB one up here is s**t hot. Full EB GT kit too! Seen it round a few times, but never been able to get a pic of it.
