Down here in Victoria we still have our water rationing problem and I can't remember what the rule was in regard to washing the car with a hose. Was it legal if you had one of those high pressure water gizmo's only or could you use the hose as long as it had one of those trigger attachments? I know you are not allowed to just use a hose without an attachment.

NO HOSES can be used, except those connected to a high pressure water cleaning unit Just a high pressure unit only at your own home. Sad isn't it?

yeah these restrictions are pointless, you actually use more water with a bucket then when you clean with a hose.... Any way im exempt from these restrictions coz i got recycled water at my disposal.... it cleans just as well!

Buy a big rain water tank.. Should get a rebate as well from the Government and it's good enough (if not better) to drink as well.

I use a high pressure cleaner, altho i tell you now i bet i use a heap of water after im finished washin 2/3 cars with it!
Us mexicans do have it bad - and we are on these restrictions permanently now, so may as well invent in one if you havnt yet. Also dont bet on the caught water being too clean, it isnt from what ive personally seen.. Also some areas TAX you on water catchment saying it fell from their area and your preventing it running back into their drains - look into it guys its not BS, my dads mate lives out in the county (not v far out) and got fined 50,000 and is trying to get it overlooked in court still - back from 2003 i think.

Yeeeeuk! The "rain" water you speak of comes off your roof, and there is no way I would drink what comes from that and into a tank, have a look next time just before winter how much smog crap has settled into your gutters.....

See that's just the sort of thing I've been meaning to ask Nick, what sort of high pressure cleaners are out there and how much do they generally cost?

i paid about 250 for mine, its trgger operated so it only fires up when the trigger is pulled, doesnt f**k the pump as much
We have some old cheap and nasty ones at work, they are always on and the pumps sieze. Karcher are a well known name and mine came with a free instructional video which was made in teh 1980's and had a porn music backing track The gerni ones are also european and are pretty good, you may want to get one with wheels and holder for the high pressure gun etc The karcher i have has a hose to put in a bottle of car wash soap you can also get attatchments for them and the government offers a rebate on your purchase as well

I remember the Gerni ads some time ago and am aware of Karcher through TV ads too. Are they the two highest quality units or are there other brands that are worth mentioning?

I also suggest getting one with the wheels as they are much easier to use.. altho hoses still get stuck under wheels while trying to drag the unit around.
