Isn't the wayer that comes through bonnet vents and scoops and that on cars a bit of a problem? Like wouldn't it increase rust and be bad for the electrical system.

i dont think it would be a problem cause when the cars going the engine is hot sowouldnt the water just evaporate on contact with the engine

which i think is a reason why most of the wiring and electrics on the engine are up the top of the engine bay as far away as possiable |

If you see how dirty the wiring gets under the bonnet a little water isnt gonna do much. Theres oil, and grease and all sorts of crap that gets over the wiring.
Plus if you look at half the cars with real functional scoops, they dont seem to have too many troubles.

the bonnet flutes on the ef and el xr's actually have a water dam under them. but water under the bonnet won't heard anything, considering every time you drive the car the engine bay will heat up and and residue will be removed.

I have an aftermarket bonnet scoop of my EB Fairmont - admittedly it is facing towards the windshield to prevent some water getting in the engine bay, but as mentioned in previous postings the water isn't going to damage anything. Ford engineers would have anticipated this problem and buildt the electricals with seals and such.

well it's a pitty that ford engineers didn't do all my electricsa, there's a lot of aftermarket stuff, extra driving lights, amp wiring, lpg electrics, etc. |

talk to johno (SVO XR6) - he's got twin sequential scoops on his car, and hes got amp/sub wiring etc - AFAIK he's yet to have an issue, but can't hurt to throw him a PM & check

Generally speaking, car designers build in as much water resistance as possible. If you look at wiring looms and the like, you won't see too many bare wires. Mind you, when the Hyundai Excel craze was at its peak, I saw lots of boomsteroids who'd put EF bonnet vents on them and the holes were right above the alternator and its open windings. When I fitted them, I made up a little aluminium shield which bolted to the alternator bracket to deflect any water which may have got in when the car was parked.
