sprayed a s**t LOAD of rocks/gravel at my car!!

The truck was going the opposite way to me and just as we went past the truck went through a patch of gravel on the road that had only just been put there to patch the bitumen and showered my car with gravel.

It was like someone was standing on the back of the truck with a bucket full of gravel and threw it out as I went past. When I got back into town I washed the car at the carwash and had a quick look under flouro lights and it looked ok. Got up this morning and put it in the sun and HOLY FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The car looks like someone shot it with a shot gun. There is stone chips all over it back to bare metal, here is what has got stone chips on it:

Front bumper
Front skirt
Bonnet
Drivers Front quarter
Passengers Front quarter
Windscreen
Drivers A pillar
Passengers A pillar
Drivers Front door and mirror
Passengers Front door and mirror
Drivers rear door
Drivers side skirt
Drivers rear quarter
Roof
Drivers C pillar
Boot
Boot Spoiler
Rear bumper
Rear skirt

Think that is it!

So I am now VERY p****d OFF!!

Now my questions. How much would I be looking at for a full respray of the whole car? And anyone know a good place (read good as in awesome work not as in cheap) in Adelaide to get it done? Also are crash repairer places able to match standard factory colours? My car is Regency as you can see in my sig.

All in all very very angry right now as my car didn't really have any chips in it before last night.

For a good job your looking at about $4000 in the same color if you want a color change it will be upto $10,000 depending on color.

Hmmm $4000 hey? That's not too bad. Is that for the entire car though? I thought it would've been more then that as they will have to take off the doors, bumper, quarter panels and the whole bodykit and do it all separately wouldn't they?

Hell, I would be writing a letter to your local MP about what happened. Simply not acceptable road conditions to cause that sort of damage to a vehicle.

Fingers crossed the repairs to your car would be sorted out, nothing to loose bar a couple of hours writing a letter....

Complain to the council or whoever laid that f**k up temp fix. Did they have signs up warning motorists of loose gravel? Do i have a point?

No signs up I don't think. It was at night time so I couldn't see the condition of the road. I knew that there were patches around that spot as I went through there for work the other day. Stupid thing is if I was just a few seconds faster or slower it wouldn't have happened.

where did it happen?

The council here are f**k useless and when they say theyre re-sealing a road its more like throw a bit of tar on the thing and some small rocks.

On the Woomera to Roxby road. So it would be outside of our council's area I would guess it would be Roxby council. But yes I totally agree with you that the coucil here is totally f**k. I can't see why they just don't leave the bloody roads alone. The roads are fine and then they come and chuck a s**t load of gravel over the top so that you have to drive under 10km/hr so that the rocks don't flick up.

I would prolly just follow up on the council thing a find out if what happened is somehow their fault, cause by the sound of it, it was more than just a few little stones on road base.

I worked on the council for a while and we had to resurface 7km of road (contract from main roads) and we never left the road in a state of condition that would leave someones car in $4000 worth of damage.

There are defintely certain procedures you have to follow, like signage and making the temp road a certain standard etc.

I would follow this up cause its better than forking out the whole $4000 yourself. My mate drove his GT and stopped at a set of lights where council worker who decided to keep his whipper snipper going in a pile of gravel which cause something similar to yours and he got compo from them. Different kettle of fish, i know, but just go and see if you got a leg to stand on...?

I will have to give them a ring or something. My excess on my insurance is $2500 so even if I put it through insurance it will still be expensive. s**t thing is I could get it resprayed and have the same thing happen the next day. Oh the joys of living in the country!

yeah might look into it. All depends how much it will cost me to do the whole solicitor thing might work out cheaper just to get it done and forget about it. Off topic now but how long has the swear filter been on Fordmods? Probably forever but I only just noticed it.

Legal Aid mate....Give 'em a call and explain what happened. I bet there would be alot of people that have suffered the same damage to their cars so a group complaint would definately see some sort of compensation.
Maybe if you placed an ad in the local paper, That may prompt other's to come forward with their complaints too. Dunno if it will work but worth a try mate.
