I just bought an EL GT and was wondering what the best carwash out there is? I dont want something that is going to deteriorate the paint over time, I want to use something that will keep it looking good.

I use Autoglym Body Shampoo & Conditioner, pretty expensive, but by far the best i've used.

Usually, you get what you pay for.
Probably Meguiars, would the be the brand to give you good results and not harm your car. It would probably be a good idea to just go to a store with $100 bucks, and get yourself the gods you'll need to clean it. Like: Car Wash Shampoo stuff, Tyre Shine, Rim Cleaner, A Wax of some sort, Window Cleaner, and chamois and a new sponge and bucket. Don't wash your wheels with the same sponge that you wash your car with.... Dave |

either mother or autoglym.. maquires is more mid range stuff.. mothers and more so autoglym are the upper crust of the market..

Go for Meguires..they have a great range of gear...go for the NXT Generation range or the Gold Class Range.....they have a pro range called Mirror Glaze which is excellent but the price tag reflects this...check out their website www.meguiars.com ..i use & swear by the NXT Generation range which is the only stuff that touches my exterior....check out how shiny it is...

Also try to get a meguairs "microspun wash mit". I got one in a promotion at supercheap and it works wonders, as when your done, you throw it into the wash and remove all the dirt. By using a sponge, every time you use it you are scraping the paint with all the crap that has accumulated in the sponge itself. Also try a meguiars chamois, the one that doesn't come in a tube. For a dark coloured car, there is nothing better than this chamois. Although meguairs is expensive stuff, remember that quality is remembered long after price is forgotten. I also second the use of the NXT Generation range of polishes and waxes.

Just to upset everybody that has said Meguiars, i used that before going to Autoglym, and would never look back
Perhaps try some of each, see for yourself which you like better..

Aahh.. looks lovely, I am terribly jealous. Make sure you do use a good quality car wash on her, looks like it has already been well maintained..

Lovely car indeed..
As Tom said grab some Autoglym and some top of the range meguiars products and see which you rprefer, I've gone from heritage green colour, which looked brilliant with meguiars and now have regency red which looks much nicer with the autoglym, try a few yourself, if you pick something up that looks too cheap to be true for what it claims, DONT buy it, my suggestion.

take good care of her and ffs dont use the car wash scrubing brushes!! They will distroy the paint
