Well as some of u might know, i bout the lane a few months back now. When i bought her, the paint felt real rough (actual feel of it) and i thought, oh yeah she just needs a good buff and a clean.
Well took it to the detailers last weekend, they put three cuts into her and it is still as rough as f**k. Looks like it is either overspray or some kind of mineral soaked into the paint. So my question is, should i live with it at the moment and get it resprayed down the track, or sell her and get another car?? I really do like the car, and people that know me will agree with that. And it would be a real shame to get rid of her, as she is schmik on the inside, motor is in good nick, with only 120000 klms. And yes before anyone just says leave it how it is... I cant i am real fussy bout the car, and it would s**t me to tears if it stayed like that. So what would people do in my circumastance? respray or sell? cheers

And also When i got the car back from being detailed, well cut, u can see where the paint is wearing thin. So i could try and cut it back a bit more, but dont really want to do that, as it will make it look worse.

re-spray it, if u buy a new car u'll have to sell the old one and u'll probably end up lossen $$$ anyway. And the new one u get could be a heap of junk. And if u respray it u can have it any colour u wont.

A badish paintjob, aint as bad as a dinged up white fronted, scratched falcon. On a more serious note, i'd put my money into a respray.

Find a decent spray painter (hard to find) and ask him what he thinks about the problem as there may be a way to fix it that hasen't been explored

GT BOB... i have asked a spraypainter, and also i have asked my grandfather who is a spraypainter, and they have both said the same thing.
There is a product called clay or something like that, which draws the contamination out of the paint work,like iron deposits and things of that nature, but obviously not overspray. I will be trying this, as soon as i can find it, but i really do think it is overspray, as i think at some stage the car has had a slight re spray of a panel. Stillunsure of what i am wanting to do, Thats why i want to get some opinions to helpme make up mind and or give me a few things to think about.

Keep it, find a good spraypainter whos willing to do a cashy and let you help in the preperation (alot of like to do the prep themselves, so they can guarantee their work, but most will knock a bit off if you can help or even just rub it all back).
Get it resprayed the same colour so you dont have to strip the whole thing, or end up with a mismatched engine bay, boot, and doorjams.

Yeah champ, Once my grandfather gets back form overseas, he left yesty.. bugger, he has heaps of contacts in the spraying business, so i should get a pretty good price, i could get it done for nothing, by my grandfather, but i dont trust his skills anymore, he is a bit rough with everything and he is half blind, so it would look worse than it does now if he done it....

First off you need to determine what the condition of the paint is like.
1, wash and dry the car as normal using a PH nuetral wash, all Meg's ones are. 2, run the back of you hand over the paint, does it feel rough? if so you can approach this two ways a, Using the clay system http://www.meguiars.com.au/productdetai ... bcat=Paint Care&subsubcat=Surface Prep&show=1 B, using a chemical cleaner such as Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, http://www.meguiars.com.au/Images/produ ... _A3016.jpg 3, Has he car got light scrathes, swirl marks, dull paint? Yeah ive seen that clay bar in action, bloody good product ben. You use it with the showcar shine polish stuff, and it works a treat. (all mothers products).
So your dad knows people in the spray painting business you say? (i'll get back to you on that one :p)
