Alrighty guys, can be either interior or exterior mods, I don't mind but...
I'm only a student and don't work much, so I get little tax money, so what I do get back I want to spend on my car, what should I spend? It will be roughly $300 bucks, asking every opinion Cheers, Zane. |

You should not spend the tax money and should actually donate it to charity or don't take the tax back and leave it in the government coffers so they can better your country for future generations.

..give me the money. I can double it for you in return
I'd say full service and maybe brakes...besides that, not much you can really do with $300. Or maybe exhaust if you haven't already.

I don't mind spending a little more money other than tax return |

Slotted and Dimpled rotors, or just slotted.... Good idea. Probably BEST idea with this kind of money. Well, THE BEST idea would be to give it back to your Government so they can give hand outs to Commodore to keep your country working, but failing that, BRAKES

Also what brand and what brake pads should I get? Thanks |

If you're getting new brakes, I'd recommend you get some Remsa pads, they apparently have the highest friction coefficient and widest operating temp range. I've already bought myself a set, just waiting on someone to set me up with some custom curve slotted/dimpled rotors. I know my tax return is going towards a full suspension overhaul >:D

They were terrible in the wet . In the dry one warmed up they were good . I have my old rotors if interested , only done 5000km.

DBA slotted rotors with Bendix Ultimate pads...I haven't had any issues with them and no warping thus far. On my second set now. However from memory, they might be about $300-350 for just the front rotors and pads. Rears would be another $200ish I think.

I'm going RDA slotted with QFM HPX pads on all four corners.
Should stop me pretty well. You may as well get new wheels bearings for the front, while you have the rotors off. As well as paint the hub of your rotors black, as to inhibit rust forming.

You can fit ABS units to NON ABS cars, easy. If you want you can knock the ABS ring out, but makes no difference really. As per my current brakes I got the NON ABS variety and added the ABS ring by sticking them into a lathe and taking a few mm off to accommodate the ring being pushed on...
the-garage-f53/futurlane-ultimate-budget-stories-t69180-2615.html And definitely get new wheel bearings (including the cups to be pressed into the rotor) while you are doing the fronts. The fronts are the most important for braking purposes anyway of course.... |
