Hey guys,

Got a really good price on some Toyo TEO Plus 235/40/18. Been told that they are a really good tyre but other people have said they're too soft.

What tyres everyone else running??

Can get the toyo's for $180ea down from around $250-270

Cheers Paul.

I bought a set of Toyo Teo Plus for my elgt's sure, they're a smooth tyre, very quiet as well. and you get good Ks out of them.

They stick when braking and are good in the wet.

They corner s**t.
They're Noisy (squeel) when you do give them a ¼ of performance.

Overall they're a grandpa spec tyre. I will NOT be touching them again.. its a pitty I have them on my FTR's too. I hate them.

I'm running some Sunew or something like that chinese tyres on my EB Ghia, the pattern is a dunlop pattern, have a tread wear rating of 380, they are pretty hard. Not so great in the wet, but ok in the dry. Pretty cheap too, about $130 a pop iirc.

I have tried Regal's, Toyo's, Pirelli's, and some Bridgestones on the Eb Ghia, in 235/45 R17 sizing as well as the current tyres. Best value for money has been the current or the Regal's, but best tyre for grip was the toyo. They were way too soft to run for the kms i do on them.

I currently have some Federal Fd1's on the mighty boy, in 165/45 R15 size. They are fairly hard compound, but they get rid of water rather well, turn in great & are rather surprising for a harder compound, i think about a 320 tread wear rating.

I have had falken ze326's on my Torana in 165/65 R14 on the front & they were are really good tyre too.

I have some bridgestones on the Xr8 but they are not legal, i will be swapping my olympic 14's on to get thru rwc, they are almost brand new. :D

Cheers

maxxis mav1, got them of my r33 front and rear, 235/40r18 and 265/35r18
they can be a bit noisey, grip very well for a mid end tyre, dont squeal under full throttle or wheel spin, and i have done 60'000kms on them already, but the rears are nearly gone due to camber wear :( here comes another 600dollars on 265's.

but yeh also my dad has the maxxis mav1 on his au mont ghia, 17inch tickys, on that, very good wear life, nice and quite, and gripy in the wet, and i think there only like 140ish each at that size.

cheers, Rob.

Hey Paul,

Yeah dude, when you have as many car's as i do, you go thru a few tyres! I had some roadstones on my mighty boy in 145/70 R12 when it had the stockies on it, they were pretty good value for money, but not so great at cornering. Probably more due to sidewall flex than anything else, being such a large profile. They took a long time to wear out, were pretty good at getting rid of water too.

Regal's used to be sold thru TTF & a few other places. Last time i bought tyres almost 12mths ago for my EB Ghia, i couldn't get any at the time. There used to be a few different Regal's available, they are apparently a pacific dunlop company, made in South Africa iirc. Not sure if they are currently available anywhere tho.

Cheers

+1

Falken's are a good tyre

I'm running re-treads at the moment, they are terrible.

I have Nexen 3000's on the ute, in 235/45/17. Good value, $130 each fitted and balanced. Good looking tyre, aggressive looking tread pattern, handles really well in wet and dry, not noisy at all. I will be using them on the wagon, and would recommend them to anyone.
