initially it was just the boot that looked like this, after taking off the spoiler, but now i've started to notice the bonnet and roof looking like this. its not peeling, its just really dry in areas.
i've tried a few different waxes and clearcoat protectants but i'm not sure whether thats what i should even be using? they initially look good when wet, but when dry they look the same. any ideas? what it is, and what it'll cost to fix? i didnt own the car prior to 260,000km's so i'm not sure on the care the previous owner took. Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: there was some dirty rain the night before, but you get the idea. |

looks to me like the clear coat is going off, a common problem on E series as well.

whats the "fix" for it. i'm not too knowlegeable when it comes to paint and panel.
do i go to a panel beater and ask him to "re-spray" my clearcoat. or do they have to sand back and re-prime, paint, and clearcoat it all? cheers, adam |

they might get away with it but usually it needs to be resprayed colour and clearcoat.

Hey, when I picked up my EF the paint was oxidised. Gives it like a white powdery look. Don't know if this is what yours has but I gave if a good wash in some heavy duty car wash, got some cutting compound for older paint then gave it a really good polish. Doesn't fix it 100% but brings the shine back into it.
Could give it a try because I'm sure its alot cheaper then getting a respray. |

Try hitting it with a buff and some cutting compound and see how it comes up.
