true, but i still think most people are buying alloys for looks, and thats all.

corrrect... but *a lot* of people who are buying alloys are doing it for the looks, not for handling or traction.
infact plenty of them put stockies on for drags etc.

People put on stockies for drags because fitting sticky rubber to a smaller rim will alllow the rubber to 'bag up' giving more traction off the line. These same people might put their 17" rims back on after they have finished dragging because the 17"s will have less tire flex and have more traction around corners
horses for courses mate

the problem is trying to find a wheel that fits that model as not many wheel manufacturers make lots of wheels to suit pre-au.

i dont think it should be up to any of us pyro.
your the one thast gotta look at it everyday...

Some interesting coments.

Staying with the Genuine GT rims is certainly an option. yes mine are 8.5" inches wide and i have done some racing at Phillip Island so the extra idth is used....

18's would probably be the go as PYROLY also has them so i'd be able to get 8 x 18" tyres at a time and get a good deal.

Yeah some photo shot work with the different rims would be good if someone is able.

Yes i guess your right, to be honest i have always been happy with the GT rims, as thats why i bought them, i am just considering a change and wondering if something else will look more impressive and still perform the same...

LOL

Well that was my first go at it... I just use it as a reminder that I shouldn't tamper with perfection.
