I have Artic Blues in mine, and was about to get the Philips equvilent which is the Blue Vision 4000k ones.... but the dude @ autobarn said save my money and just get the NARVA artic blues because it puts out the same amount of light ie. 4000k and is also less expensive. Plus there made in germany as well.

Only cost me $26 on sale :)

Hi all

I have recently replaced my H1 low beam globes on my el with 100w and it's an amazing improvement.

I want to replace the H3 high beam globes with 100w also.

Before I do this I have two questions which I am hoping you guys can answer for me.

1. Will these globes damage the reflector due to excessive heat?

2. Can the alternator / fuses / wiring deal with the extra combined 180w with the high and low beams running?

Thanks in advance for any comments

Yes the reflector and lens will eventually melt and discolour with the excess heat.

The alternator should be able to handle supplying the extra power but you may find that you will melt the connector. You should also update the cct breaker too.

For your model car if it were me id stick to the 55w globes but get the +30 or +50 ones.

Good day all,

So if the Ef/El xr's run h1 and h3 for high, what would a Gli use?

Bro chucked some artic blues in before and they went bust in no time, guess that's what he got for not looking it up.

Just after some info on what type bulbs my EL XR uses.
Ive got a rough idea, i think, but just need a confirmation, as i am changing all the exterior bulbs to the blue/white light type.

Here's what i THINK they might be, but am not too sure:

Front Headlights: H1 55W (4 of them for the XR style lights?)
Front Parkers: T10 5W
Rear license plate light: T10 5W

Please correct me if any of those are not right.

Cheers fellas'

Gli/Futura/XR Low H1 (driving lights) High H3. (high beam)

I have the phillips Extreme in my car, will let you know how they are when i finally get my car back.

So Gli's and Xr's use the same globes, h1 and h3 for high?

Thanks.

Gli/Futura/XR - High H3. (high beam)

Driving lights are referred as Low Beams. What you normally drive with at night.

High beam self explanatry

on a XR, the H1 go in the outer lense on either side, and the H3 high beam globes go in the inner lense

Real s**t to get to, i have to take out my battery and airbox to fit mine in

Definately not a fun job to do if youve got larger hands. Or any hands for that matter. They are an absolute b**ch to get to. Long-nose pliers do the trick though

Anyone know if you can get the type of globe that changes colour, like the BMW's or Audi's use? Or is that all in the headlamp itself? I know the R31's have them, which are called Parabolic headlights. Not sure if BMW's call them the same thing...
Also, will it work on a normal GLi headlight or only on xr's?
Cheers.

Xr's have the projector headlight. And there is a non hid globe that flickers. My mate brought vx aftermarket headlights , and the globes that came with them flickered yellow/ blue.

As for me I have 6000k hids in my xr6. Best light mod u could do, don't stuff around with different bulbs , if u want to see And be seen lol go hid's . A Phillips kit 6000k is only $160 . And not to hard to install yourself. Mine were already installed when I got my xr6. But I did install them a Phillips kit on my Ef but the light spread wasn't as good cos they don't have a projector lens. And I blew the ballasts cos I kept turning them on and off big no no lol

U have to let the ballasts charge up the globe before u can turn them off. And the same with turning them back on wait 10 mins. Basically turn them on leave them , turn them off leave them
