Well that's what I'm saying is that you need the actual bumpers with the chrome strip recesses.
You will have that moulded type area around where the strips go, just not the recesses. I've added chrome strips to an EL GLI front bumper - they have those moulded areas too - just dremelled out a trench along the top 10-11mm wide, with slots at the ends to tuck the chrome strips behind. Then mask the mould area, and painted it black.

It does take a bit of time to do, but it saves you getting the right bumpers, then having to discard the bumpers you already have.
I used the supercrap 10mm chrome strips on the doors and the front - I'm surprised how well they've stuck after all this time, particularly on the bends, so they've used decent double sided tape.
