does anyone have any technical theories or reasons why this happens? My eardrums copped a thumping the other day. Yes i know to wind the window up to stop it but was curious as to why this happens.

Becasue of the air pressure going into the cabin is that great when travelling at high speeds, and when it is being compacted into a small space the sonds instifies.
