Does anyone know what the cause or problem is to this one?
I have replaced the wiper rubbers on my windscreen wipers about 6 months ago, they use to be smooth and very quiet when in use. However, recently the passenger side wiper rubber squeals as if the glass was dry , however the glass is wet. no squeals on the driver's side, just passengers side. I checked the blades and cannot see any problems with it. Would it be the windscreen itself or is there another cause? Should I bite the bullet and buy another set? I brought the last set from SuperCheap. Cheers |

More than likely cheap crap rubber. I gave up on the standard refills years ago and switched to the BOSCH AERO TWIN wipers. They are the best things made since wipers were fitted to to cars. I generally get a good year an half from them before I need to change them. They are way more expensive but worth it in the long run, in my opinion.

If you are using refills, it is most likely not the rubber, it may be the holder itself. After a while, the holders don't have the same "curve" or strength on it to push the rubber firmly onto the windshield. Only way is to either try and bend the holder a little bit on the affected area or get a new set.

You'll baulk a bit at the cost at 1st, but they're well worth it. I also treat my windscreen and tailgate window with RainX every 3 months (if I remember  ) and I never have issues with wiper squeal or skipping. And on the big plus, poor weather visibility is brilliant.

Thanks for your comments and recommendations. I'll go that way myself Just some questions:- Who would stock those Bosch Twin Aeros? Does anyone have the part number for this item? Are they correct size or do they have to be trimmed? Cheers, Bondy |

I got mine from Sprint Auto (In S.A.) but I imagine any reputable auto parts store would carry them.
They're a generic fitment item, so no part #. However you'll need to ensure you get the correct type for your car, my EF uses the J hook type, and I'm pretty sure the AU is the same. All you need to do is measure the length of your current wipers and make sure you use the same size (Or as I did, take the old wiper in with you). From memory (probably wrong ) mine are 19'' on the front and 17'' on the tailgate. (Yes, they are in inches) And lastly, no, you do not need to trim them.

I got my Bosch Aero Twins from Autobarn and I have seen them in some SuperCheap stores however that was years ago. My last pair were Trico Techs which I got from SuperCheap. The Bosch ones have lasted me 2 years as an every day driver, Trico is still going after 3 years, 1 year every day driver and 2 years weekend driving. The Trico set is due, however seeing as I don't drive it enough, I can't justify it.

I use the Tridon equivalent of these blades from supercheap auto... just replaced them recently... cost of $35 each blade... I love these things so much... you'll wonder why you ever bought a pair of refills for $5 when you fit $70 worth of blades in their place...
Other thing too is the bushes in the "skeleton" flog out and the whole thing begins to C**k sideways and instead of wiping it drags the blade over the windscreen... ends up completely wearing out and people never seem to replace the whole skeleton blade at $20 roughly each... they just keep throwing $5 refills in it and it never makes a difference... A small suggestion, why not clean the front screen with METHO and a clean rag out of the sunlight. Seems unusual that only one side is having that trouble. You may have something on that side and Metho should fix the problem.

Hmmm, valid point about the blade. The wiper assembly does not look bent or warped but then again it's difficult to say if it is. I'll give the screen a good clean with metho. TimmyA, those skeleton blades, where do you get them from? I've never seen skeleton blades sold at supercheap where I live. Cheers, Bondy |

I first got mine from Supercheap, then I found them on ebay cheaper and have been getting them from there ever since. The Part No is BBA550, and they are already the correct length as you replace the head not just the rubber blade. One little warning on Ebay, make sure the listing id for a PAIR and not for 1 ONLY as I have almost been caught a couple of times thinking it was a good price for 2 when it was only for 1 wiper. As Papa Smurf said it well worth giving the screen a good clean with metho and see if it makes any difference. Anyway Good luck.

had a similar issue on a mates au. turns out the rubber wasnt clipped onto one of the legs properly, and the leg was dragging on the glass. the squeak was the leg etching a fine scratch in the glass as it went back and forth.
