today when used the wipers on the car they got to about halfway up and stopped i could still hear the click go off when u use the stalk but nothing happened ,checked fuse and everything was fine.
on the way home they all of a sudden worked and went back to there normal position.

has this happened to anyone before and is it just a once off thing or an expensive frequent thing?

Intermittent and wiper return is controlled by the bem up beside the handbrake inside the cabin.
Could be as simple as a loose connector there. it's mounted between the handbrake and the stereo. Probably a white box with two connectors running to it. check that they are secure and try the wipers again. also check the connector on the firewall where the wiper motor connects into the wiring harness.
other possibilities are bad earth connection somewhere in the circuit, or a worn out wiper motor
