well yes u need too
as the clear gives it the shine

it also protects the paint underneath

when u spray the clear

give it 4-5 coats starting with a LIGHT coat first
then building up heavier coats

after it has dried block it back with 1200 wet/dry then polish will be sweet

its just the my brother is a spray painter and he said for me that im new at painting and it would be best for me not to put clear on it because if i have any sand paper marks that might come out in the paint two or three weeks later as the paint hardens it would be harder for me to fix with clear on it and he said that clear on acrylic is not really needed just wax and buff once a week or every two weeks and use good wax not cheap crap sorry for the late reply thanks

solid primary colours dont need clear, only metalics to seal down the flakes, but you can use it,get the best you can,it does yellow with age/sun,and it magnifies the sun on the bottom coat,so may fade faster.get the paint colour sanded and perfect before the clear,it will show every thing wrong, and apply more paint-you are going to sand about 3 coats off or more to get it straight and the right colour.

you can also add the clear to the paint so you dont need to add the clear on its own later, has the same afect
