Can anyone advise if an XE ESP Fairmont front end could easily be fitted to an XH series 2 XR8 ute.
I've read that the XH front end was different from the XD/XE/XF series. I love the XE ESP look, but also like the idea of a much younger, updated ute as well. I'm not that keen on the XH XR8 front. |

Wow, really...
Your the first person I've heard that doesn't like the series 2 xr fronts Any way, I believe you need the radiator support cut out and replaced with an xe unit. Really I think thats the major thing, other than that its just sheet metal. I have seen xes converted to xhs but not the other way round, the onhly other thing I can think of is maybe the inner guards may taper down more. Just try pulling all the front panels off the xh and see what xe bits will bolt up. Ben |

Thanks for the speedy reply.
I haven't actually bought the ute yet, and am trying to decide whether to buy an XE, or fork out a bit more and get the XH. |

It wont fit mate. The XH is pretty much an EL front (with all suspension, etc) tacked onto XD firewall (which isn't exactly the same either - I know cos I did a 5.0L conversion on my XF)
You'd be MUCH better off finding an XD/E ute, and doing it that way. You can easily refine the front end with RRS rack & pinion steering, better suspension etc. And this will be much cheaper, and much less work IMO. There's effectively no benefit at all by starting with an XH body if you want an ESP front. If you want a 5.0L, that's an easy enough conversion to do to an XD/E/F.... they drop straight in
