Hi,

I was considering painting my XR6 Badges of my BF in matt black. I am considering going with a stealth theme since i now have my new Dark argent wheels fitted. I think the matt black may work in contrast to the gloss paint and therefore you should be able to see it as it will not reflect light. I was also thinking of doing the chrome strip under the rear tail light in black.

I just want to know what people think. I have attached a photoshopped image of my car with the badges. Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Brett.

painting under the tail lights looks good.... but id paint the XR6 and FALCON badges in gloss black not matt black... i can hardly even see them in the photo.

I might have made the colour a bit dark in photoshop. In reality it would be a bit lighter than that.

The only reason I was thinking matt black is because of high level of gloss on the car. If I paint it in a gloss black it may be lost altogether.

I got the idea from a company called WALD who specialise in tuning Mercedes etc. They seem to use a matt black badge on their cars. Even the old Camry Sportivos used to have a matt charcoal badge a few years back.

Hopefully when the sun is shining the matt black badge will be the only part which does not reflect, which should make it visible against the duco.

If it were me and I really felt the need to paint them, I would paint them red.

Red on black would look nice.

Spotted a white VE ClubSport on Saturday, with the badges done in matt black, worked better than the factory chrome ones as it provided needed contrast. Against a black car however, very stealth, but meh, not my idea of a good time.

'data_mine' is that a matt finish black strip to that tail light assembly?

I know a lot of people like to debadge their B Series but I just wanted to try something different and still pay respect to the XR by keeping it very subtle and understated.

I may even leave the chrome under the lights and just do the badges.

My xr even though its a EL has the matt black xr badges and i like the look it matchs the tint on the tail lights, should look ok on yours to. Maybe you could tint your tail lights aswell?

Hay if worse comes to worse just use thinners and wipe it off if you end up not liking the look on the badges.

Debadge the sucker altogether! It will definitely look cleaner but then again black on black is very stealth..
