hey guys- just read the thread below, and thought id share a tip with yas. i stumbled on it by accident. i had the typical yellow headlight problem, and let it get realy bad before attempting to fix. the earlier thread on this worked great, but i made an interesting discovery. i had cut the small writing off of the bottom of a fpv sticker (clear background) the small writing 'ford performance vehicles' and stuck it on the bottom of one headlight. when i removed this to buff the yellow off the headlight, i found that the plastic underneath was not yellow at all! so after i had polished them clear again, i went to my local sign writer and bought some commercial clear contact, stuck it on and trimmed to size. there is no hint of yellow after 2 years. if anyone has a problem with yellow returning after polishing, this may help. sorry if youz already know this, but i hadnt seen it anywhere before.

It will only work if the clear contact is 'uv-stabilised', meaning that ultraviolet light (from the sun) will not affect it.
Good tip though! I will do this after i polish my headlights again! |

I think its a great idea even though some take the piss out of it. Sign writers would use UV stabilized materials as they do make signs that sit in the sun..... |

Agreed.
Not much point going to Kmart when stationary suppliers would most likely have a suitable product as well. Headlight protectors also work very well to reduce UV damage.

Cheers for the tip man. It's a pain in the a** buffing the lights to as new every 6 months then watching them fade to yellow again. I'll give it a shot. It definately needs to be the commercial stuff then?

yep. dont use the stuff that you would put on your maths book. i found that there were hundreds of little bubbles when you looked close. but they went away after a couple of weeks. you couldnt tell when you looked at the car generally tho.
i dont know why people would pay you out about it. you cant even tell there is anything on the light.
