Hey guys, today I just wanted to try and set up one of the cornering lamps I have (the other one is a shagged one I bought off some d**k on fordforums.com ages ago).

I want it so that it comes on all the time basically, lol. Just a cosmetic thing to me.

Can anyone tell me what electrical things I will need and how to install?

Little help?

Passenger Side Relay

Brown: Cut 1cm from Relay
Purple/Yellow: Cut 1cm from Relay
Black: Don’t Touch
Green: Don’t Touch

- Join the Brown and Purple/Yellow at the longer end of the wire (non relay end) and Tape/Heat Shrink the Connection

- Make sure the small wires on the Relay end aren’t touching anything, cover/twist away if necessary.

Driver’s Side Relay

Brown/White: Cut 1cm from Relay
Brown/Silver: Cut 1cm from Relay
Black: Don’t Touch
Green: Don’t Touch

- Join the Brown/White and Brown/Silver at the longer end of the wire (non relay end) and Tape/Heat Shrink the Connection.

- Make sure the small wires on the Relay end aren’t touching anything, cover/twist away if necessary.

Thanks mate, but which wire wires up to which terminal on the lamp itself? And how to I protect them?

Non-relay end?

Your diagram is pretty much right mate. As for connection try jaycar for a plastic connector to fit or solder it straight on to the pins. And just try the wires out b4 u solder it will work one way and not the other :P

Okay went to autobarn, this is the knowledge (diagram) and equipment I cam back from. I need to know which wires go where, which colour each wire is, how to, what to be careful with, where to mount relay, etc. etc. Who wants to join the dots? lol.

Cheers guys.

Mine are hooked up to the parkers.

Looks great just as the sun is going down.

wow you like spending money on stuff. those quick connectors really s**t me, they never seem to work properly for a long period of time.

Anyway, i thought there was a wiring diagram on here somewhere how to wire up driving lights.

Do you want them to come on with your parkers or with your low beams? and stay on i presume

Basically I want them to come on whenever ANY sort of light is activated, parkers, low beams, high beams, the whole kitten kaboodle.

There is a diagram on that technical document, but that's only really useful for Fairlane owners who have all the wiring already and are just converted them from only working while indicating, to a switch on/switch off system.

So who is going to fix up the diagram I made for me?

Cheers b2u.

Well being as the other lights come on after the parkers if you wire them to the park light circuit you will get what you want.

Did you lose the diagram I gave you earlier?
Here it is again
Image

The park light wire you need should be brown, at the back of the headlight assembly. Test it first

Tap into that and run a wire to terminal 85 on the relay.
Run another wire directly from earth or through a switch to terminal 86.
Run a heavy gauge (20amp) wire from the battery to terminal 30.
From terminals 87 run a wire to one of the terminals on the back of each cornering lamp.
From the other terminal on the lamps run a wire to earth.

Note the terminals on the lamps can be wire up either way.
On the relay terminal 85 can be swapped with 86.

Good Luck, its easy, once you do it you'll see why.

That 20 amp wire is IMPERATIVE for the battery? I've got a roll of 15 amp wire.

Yeah I dug up the diagram mate, thanks again.

EDIT: I am 10 amp wire, good enough for the battery?

Argh, is this the right bunch of wires (driver's side)?

And do I cut into the Brown/White as said by castlegreyskull?
