I don't see why it would be illegal since the seats don't really play a roll in the structural integrity of the car. I assume by bucket seats you mean normal front seats...not the racing seats? Personally it would look funny...but interesting if you can pull it off nicely, like the BMW/Mercedez high class series with recliner seats.

dont think its illegal, but would have to get engineered for rego because your changing the seating occupancy to 4 seats. good idea though

You will have trouble, as the rear floor kicks up under the back seat. If you look at the height from the front floor to a*** height at the back of the front seats, then measure the same at the rear seat, you will see that most bucket seats will sit too high. With a lot of work anything is possible. Maybe talk to an upholstery shop, they may be able to mod the rear seat to look / feel like two buckets, with the console in between.

it will still need to be engineered to show the seating has been mounted correctly..
if mr police man picks on it, its a defect waiting to happen.. i have seen it done in a valiant and does look good when done correctly.. |

Well what i was thinking is the bracket to hold the seat to the floor would have to be flat and that should keep the a** height about right, then the back of the buckets there has to be some way to shorten them so the headrest is the same height as the old ones were. then the console with a bit of modding and plastic welding, sanding and painting should come up nice. I have a gas tank so im not worried about being able to put the 60/40 split down, so why not do something unique....... just my thoughts.... |
