My EBII faimonts fan stays on 24/7! I turn off the ignition and it stays on. I tried to find the relay but couldn't stop it. It's currently in my carport with the battery terminals disconected! Any ideas??? Ive tried the factory reset/diagnostics, but it's come up with the all clear!!!! VERY FRUSTRATING.

since no one has tried to help you, i will enter my 2c.
it it's stuck on boost level (fan speed 4), than that is controlled by the accessory relay in the main fuse panel beside the drivers door.
but i have no idea about weather that relay does the same thing in a fairmont..
really hope this helps, that must be a pain in the butt...

it sounds like a control problem. Had to change a HVAC Computer in a BA the other day that was doing exactly the same thing. As im not sure of the exact setup of EB/ED Climate control i cant really be more helpful than that.. sorry

thanks alot guys. I have checked it out - the accessorys fuse doesn't do anything - so I went crawling, and disconnected a connection under the glovebox - It's at least stopped the fan working. Ill have to go to a auto leco and get it sorted out. Ill just sweat for a while ;)

Sounds like a dodgy fans speed controller to me.

Pull the glove box section of your dash out and it is the silver box behind/underneath the white vacumn plug. (The wire you unplugged was probably power from this too the fan).

Try another one of these and see how you go!

Mate,

Mine is doing the same thing. When the engine is running the fan speed won't go under 8. The display will let you go less than 8 but the fan just keeps on cranking. Turn the motor off and remove the key and the fan just keeps going. What the???????????

It ended up being the fan speed controler. Cost about 85 dollars from the wreckers and was easy to replace. Hope this helps the other guy with the eb fairmont.

Thanks - I also have taken out the controller - however there are no available parts at the ford wreckers in Newcastle - so I have to wait for one in sydney to come down. - they also quoted $88 however Wouldn't surprise me if I am charged more comming from Sydney - with freight etc etc! :( *sigh* the things we do for a bit of cool air!

Mate, I wouldn't live without it. These cars have a kick a** air-con system. I guess I was just lucky with the fan speed controler. One wrecker said they were as rare as hens teeth. There were heeps around for EF onwards but for owrs there were not many around.

I tell ya, the more I hear about what some wreckers charge for these parts the more I can't think how lucky I was to get my gear.

A complete EB ghia dash and airbox for $100 bucks. I think the guy must have been hung over and I was talkin too loud for him or something!!!!

Oh well I guess bargains are out there for the lucky ones!
