I had my ignition fuse blow last night so I took the one out of the airbag and put it in that (they are the same 10A) to get me home. Now I have put the fuse back in it it keeps flashing telling me there is a problem. I have had the battery disconnected all day to reset it but I've just connected it up and its still flashing 5 times and then it stays on.
I know there is nothing wrong with it do how do I stop the airbag light coming on? Cheers |

when ever there is a fault stored in the srs system the light will come on even if the fault is not presant. so taking the fues out will store a fault of no power supply.
on the ef el u can bridge two of the pins in the obd socket sorry not sure which ones they are, and it should clear faults or take it to someone with a test reader to clear it for u |

Thanks for that fordgt290.
I'm a little more relieved. Does anyone know which pins to short or another method to clear the fault. |

Looking through the airbag diags of the manual, it says in the event of a fault it displays a two digit code ..
Example A fault code 32 is displayed as follows flash flash flash - two second pause - flash flash five second pause flash flash flash - two second pause - flash flash so you get the idea 3 plus 2 If yours is flashing 5 times then staying on I am a little confused, the book doesn't make any mention of that! Go check it again, if it is showing a two digit fault code, let me know and I'll see what it means!

Its the dash warning light Happy not a fault code.
Its flashing 5 times then its off for a while then 5 times and off for a while and 5 times and then off for a while and then it stays on all because I took the fuse out I need to clear the any fault codes to stop the dash light annoying me. |

What is the code for no power? Do you know how to clear the fault codes? well for an el it only says you need to connect the ford diagnostics tester to your car to clear any stored codes in the eeprom! Says nothing about shorting a couple of pins out so I would be very careful before trying that one! Here are the EL LFC codes in case they help... no lamp = Inoperative idicator circuit continuous lamp = fault code time out 12 = low battery voltage 13 = air bag circuit shorted to ground 14 = crash sensor shorted to ground 22 = safing sensor output circuit shorted to battery voltage 23 = memory clear circuit failure 24 = system disarm failure 32 = driver airbag circuit high resistance or open circuit 33 = pass air bag or resistor (where no pab fitted) high resistance or open circuit 34 = driver airbag circuit low resistance or shorted 35 = pab or resistor (where no pab fitted) circuit low resistance or shorted 41 = dash crash sensor circuit open 42 = front crash sensor circuit open 44 = dash crash sensor not mounted to vehicle properly 45 = front crash sensor not mounted to vehicle properly 52 = intermittent or repaired low battery voltage 53 = intermittent or repaires air bag circuit shorted to ground or crash sensor resister to ground 54 = intermittent or repaired crash sensor circuit shorted to ground

Code Clearing
# 1) Switch the Ignition On # 2) Allow the Code to be Displayed. # 3) Apply a Short Circuit to the Airbag Memory Clear Pin of the Diagnostic Connector to Ground (See above Picture for further details). # 4) The Code will be cleared after 5 Beeps have sounded. Repeat the Above untill all the required codes have been Cleared. Thats what the doco says to do. Where is ground to short the Airbag Memory Clear Pin to? I should mention Happy its for the EF XR6 not the EL Fairmont. Cheers |

Happy its a 5 flashes and then 2 flashes.
Low battery voltage because I had the battery disconnected all day I guess. I hope it will fix itself. |
