Holy smokes! ford do it for free? NO WAY! :D Will have to follow that up as its doing it in my car, though a guy who had a similiar problem, his airbag had to be deployed and would've cost nearly $2k if it weren't under warranty.

Got the car booked in for a service on friday 120k service, asked them to check the warning light out as it was on for 2 days then disappeared for nearly a week, now its back, $40 they said to do a computer check.

sorry i should of said that if it's only a minor problem it should be free, it didn't cost me anything because it only took the guy a couple of minutes to replace the fuse and reset the air bag light. At the time my car only had 120,000kms so i'm not sure but it might have been covered with my 150,000klm warranty ( no need to ask questions when your handed the keys and told your good to go :D )

replace blown fuse, then code 52 will flash, then turn ign on til code 52 is finished flashing, and earth out pin 4 (top row 4th pin in) on diagnostic plug.
then it should clear if everything is ok, but most likely code 53 will come up telling you u need a new air bag module

replace fuse then u are gonna need a piece of wire stripped at both ends (or a test light). and then turn on ignition wait for air bag light to stop flashing or go out.(above the fuse box there is the plug where u would plug in ur milti meter or such to get trouble codes) then place the wire on the ground terminal(im pretty sure its the tab on the bottom left corner). and on the air bag terminal (i think its 3rd or 4th from the left on the top row) u should here a chime noise and the light will go out u may have to do it a few times as there may be a few trouble codes(this procedure resets the air bag trouble code) it takes aprox 5 mins start to finish easy and no need to take it to any mechanic.
