G'day from Brisbane

Can anyone shed some light as to how to remedy or what the cause might be?

I have an AUII and have noticed there seems to be a restricted flow of air when the fan speed number 4 is selected. It appears to have a lot of noice for very little air flow.

Mate has an AUIII and his tends to be a lot forceful at Number 4 on fan speed, obviously there is no obstruction on his aircon.

I also noticed with my aircon on some hot days that is 31 degrees plus the air is not cold, it feels luke warm.

Is this a common problem with AUII or just my car?

Any help would be welcome.

Thanks, Peter

Uniacidz,

Thanks for your reply. My compressor seems to be okay, Fan setting speed on 1 and 2 is not much coming through, Fan setting speed 3 and 4 seems to be good but still not blowing hard.

The unit would be about 10 years old, never had a service on it as far as I'm aware.

Filter/ Receiver could be blocked as you said. Is this job easy to fix, or does it need an aircon person?

Thanks

Uniacidz,

Nope not yet, when I went to get a regas etc, the places I went to reckon I had a blockaga and wanted to charge me $3,500 to fix the problem...I only get a small amount of pay going to uni casually.

When I asked where the problem was, they said it could be anywhere and hence said they needed to completely remove / srip the aircon, locate and fix the problem and reebuild the aircon system.

I dont know if they were legit or pulling my leg.

Cheers

uniacidz,

Yeah I thiught they might be the mongrels,

There is some coolish air coming out when set on 4 to cool the interior quicker but when switched to 2 speed its only coming out softly. It does the same thing on recycle and fresh.

Setting are correct to my knowledeg. it does blow air onto feet if you select the direction of airflow and there is some cool to coldish air going through the rear vents.

Compared to my mates car, he has an AUIII, his aircon system works better and alot colder than mine and blows with more force on fan setting speed 4 whereas mine is less.

Obviously blocker receiver drier and probably needs a topup as you said.

Will be getting this sorted soon before it gets too hot.

Thanks

this might be realy stupid but this has happened to me in my ef,
Well the vent that is up under the dash on passenger side (footwell) sucked up a bit of papper or plastic blocking the entrance. cant remember now, it was blocking a s**t of air going through the system
might be that simple just stick your head up under the dash and have a look with a torch :P

i dont no if the AU have the same setup but its worth a look
