As above, which is better? for a BA, are amp gauges better than volt? i want 2 gauges in this housing that takes the place of the clock, i figure volts/amps and oil pressure, or would oil temp be better?, the only gauges in the lane are fuel and temp.

could you get an A/F ratio in there?

There are ARF ones, 52mm, so what 2? so far volts and oil temp, why oil temp, will it show a failure quicker than oil pressure? is a AFR better than volts or oil? already have a temp gauge, i presume this is for the coolant, so no point in getting water temp.

i'd go oil pressure and afr. Oil pressure is good as it can elude to possible increased oil temps or on the other hand leaks. afr is just good to see how well your sensors and ECU are working together and to also see how future mods effect it in the future. Volts/amps I wouldn't worry about. Your battery will need to be changed once in a blue moon and when it does, its not really a big deal.

Mmmmm true enough, so oil pressure and AFR, sounds good to me, anyone else got any arguements about that combo? why pressure and not temp for oil?

GT's come with oil temp and oil pressure. Good idea to me.

Volts will only show you if your alternators regulator is ok, Amps will show if the alt is making more current than your using (good), or not (bad, and you'll be draining the battery).

really AFR would be a far lot of no good.

its a narrowband sensor still in the BA's so you only get a general idea. even then if its a bit off not much you can do about it.

id be inclined for oil pressure and batt volt or oil temp.

I would also point out you can get a thing called a tripod.. basically a BA gauge pod that goes in the same place but accepts 3x 52mm gauges. There's a mob on xr6 turbo forums that do them.

Go oil pressure and batt volts.

As you've probably realised by now it seems to be all down to personal preference. Are you really going to use the gauges or are you just putting them in to fill the void?

I only have temp and a fuel gauge as standard, the old Ghia had volts and oil pressure as well, i miss them, i dont think there is enough about the engine side of things on the dash, so it looks like Oil pressure, and volts???? why would oil pressure be better than oil temp? or vise versa.

I've installed AutoMeter (Cobalt) Oil Pressure + VoltMeter in my BA. Of course, it does come down to personal preference. For me, I just wanted to fill the void, and didn't like having the grey cover on my dash, when I **KNOW** something more prominent is supposed to be there.

Voltmeter is useful for two reasons:
1) While running the car, you can make sure your battery is charging properly at the correct voltage (usually floats around 14V).

2) When you turn the key the first notch (before the engine starts), the voltmeter will point to the current 'raw' charge of the battery. This should (ideally) be around 12V. If it's anything substantially less, you know it's time to get your battery checked.

I find Oil Pressure to be handy so you can see the state of your oil reservoir. Excessive oil pressure may indicate a blocked filter, blocked oil gallery or the wrong grade of oil.

There are LOTS of other gauges you can install if you look at the AutoMeter web-site. Oil Temperature's a handy one to complement the Oil Pressure meter. A/F Ratio is good too.

If you're stuck for choice, you can get a 3-Way Pod gauge from SS Inductions for about $100 I think. That would be ideal to have Oil Pressure / Oil Temperature / Voltmeter.

Unless it's a wideband AFR meter, they are of little actual use.
