hey all.

i search a bit and read alot of threads on fitting the high series cluster in.

i wanna mod my existing left hand connector to use on the high series cluster.
(at the moment not interested in the extra features.)

i have read the technical doco on this.

but it just says cut and mod existing plug and gives the big table of the colours and that.
(no pics of a actuall modded plug)

i'm cutting the 20pin plug to a 16plug

on the mid series loom the first 2 pins r nothing and the last 2 r nothing.
from what i can everything else lines up fine with the high series(pin wise)

now heres my question.

is the modding of the plug as simple as cutting the first 2 pins off and the last 2 aswell?

this post could prob be answered in 1 word lol.
it just seems to easy lol.

I sourced the plug and pulled the pins out and swapped them over between plugs. Tedious but the result is factory.

yeh i did something simular, I made an adaptor... i used an old clusters female plug and joined it upto the male plug on the high series cluster.
This way I didn't have to touch my current dash loom.

Makes everything all plug and play!

yeh i cbf goign and looking for a high spec connector thats why i want to use my existing 1.

dude that made the adapter when u wher running the wires for old to new where they all straight( like pin 3 to pin 1, pin 4 to pin 2 and so on.

yeh, basically you just move the pins over a slot or two. read the tech doco its all described.

However Dazzat added a high series to his car.. he butchered the plug and moved all the wires. worked a treat.

I did mine this way for the old'e reverse routine!

yeh i just went out then and ground off the first 4 things and the clip jammed it in and worked.

lol.
