i have just put the Narva blue LED's into my EF falcon (low series cluster). when i had a look at them in the dark, i noticed that the needles are MUCH brighter than the dials(especially around the 4k rpm mark on the tacho, and the 20km/h mark on the speedo) should i take the LED's out and give them a quick sand to help disperse the light better?? and should i only do it to a couple of them?? (i.e. the ones that are responsible for the lighting up of the dials) and if so which ones are responsible for the dials?
thanks in advance.

I put the identical LEDs in my low series EF cluster... but yes, i sanded the LEDs themselves with 150grain paper. Make sure to wear down the tip of the lens about 2 mm. Do this to all 6 LEDs. This has a much better effect of lighting up the cluster. Look at the pic for proof.

i agree, but i want the dials to be a bit brighter, u can see on the 5000 and 6000rpm bit on the tacho how it is a little dull, and the same at around 40km/h on the speedo, i just wanted the dial a bit brighter, i like the bright needles

u know how in the low series clusters there are 6 globes that light up the dials, needles etc.. is there one that is for the needles and one for the dials?? or do they all do the same thing???

Two LEDs are positioned at the diagonal extremes of the large dials, so they both contribute to lighting that face up - the needle appears brighter because it has less visual obstructions (ie backing plate). Then the third one lights up the fuel guage. I was going to experiment putting different colour LEDs in mine, but decided i like the blue too much to change it.

yeah, the needles pick up their light the same way as the dials, there's no specific light sources for them - however that doesn't stop you adding some. A little wire and hot glue would get some LEDs right behind the needles, offering uber brightness. I haven't tried this myself, but I am planning some cluster mods, which would involve this sort of idea.

sounds good, and thanks for the info, i was just wondering if i would be able to frost just a couple of the globes to make the dials brighter and keep the needles the way they are as i like having them bright will just frost them all i reckon... cheers.
