I was just thinking today that when i install the shift kit that it would be a good idea to instal the switch on the dash and make it look factory. So as the title says is there any switches on the dash of ANY of the falcons so that i could order one of these switches from ford. It needs to be ON/ON rather than ON/OFF

cheers

I put a switch inside the ciggy lighter socket, considering I never use it. Looks kinda factory. I used to use it for a shift kit, but now I use it to turn off my ISC.

Put your switch next to the drivers seat coming out of the console just around the corner of your usual seat position and use a small switch & no one will see you turn it on & the cops wont see it when they pull you over unless they search your car

Mine is in that spot or do you have a aerial switch?

Not sure but just guess but didnt fairmont wagons (thinking of ef/el) have 3 switches one for arial, rear dimister and rear windscreen wiper?
maybe you can adapt one of those to make it look factor?

When I got my driving lights fitted the guy said he couldnt wire them up to the rear wiper switch. He might have been lazy though.

thanks for the replies but i dont think i made myself clear enough. I want to know if there are any ON/ON switches on the dash of any falcons. I have plenty of ideas for hidden switches but i want to put it on the dash in a factory location. The space next to the demister would be perfect.

Well it would help if you told us what your model is . . . EA-D or EF/L - the dash switches are somewhat different.

You could make a flip/flop and just use a momentary input switch - ie. demister.

The basics, there, you'll of course need to beef everything up to handle the high current the auto box uses.

(I haven't do it myself, just ideas floating around)

AFAIK, the DIY kits that are in mechanicalforums use a single pole double throw switch (SPDT) - that's what I used in mine - the switch is mounted next to the gear select, plus I wired a "SHIFT" caption in the instrument cluster. I'm not conversant with the EA dash, but the EB has a SPDT switch as a tailgate release in the wagons, on the right hand side of the steering column - there is a blank on the left hand side, which can be removed, and a switch fitted, I'd say the EA would be similar - this IMO would be the simplest way to go . . .

or take that flipflip circuit, and hook the outputs to relays, that way everything is easy.
