Hi all,
Just wondering what would be involved with fitting an AU center console into an EF (Auto). Is it fairly straightforward or is there a lot of modding involved? I'm thinking there would be a fair sized gap between the bottom of the dash and the front of the console.
Thanks

This is usually done on the boxcars for the purpose of a shape upgrade and the addition of cupholders, I'm sure you could probably do it with enough filler and interior paint.

Thanks mate, I might see if I can find one cheap at the wreckers and do some trial fitting.

Why would you want to fit one? what are you hoping to gain that does not exist with the EF/EL console?

If you have power windows, note that the switches will need to be re-located.

Purely for the sake of something different, no real 'gain' intended I would just like to see if it can be done. I have another EF on it's way to me as a donor car so I'll do the trial fit etc on that one and if it looks like s**t? well, apart from a few $$ and a bit of time, what have I lost?

i think your waisting time and money thinking about it au was so much worse than the older ef el series if you want to trick it up i would be looking into some blue or red led kits for the dash lights they look the best, and you can take it ferther when doing this and do all interer lights and even headlights.... just my 2 cents hope it helps

Already done Bud :)
As I said previously, this is purely an exercise to see if it can be done and find out whats involved. I'm doing it to the donor EF, and if it looks crap? Oh well. No real loss.

Good luck with it... EL console into EB is tough but do-able so dont see why AU into EF cant be done. Just be willing to cut plastic is all I can say.

You wont have to cut anything. The EF/EL dash unbolts and the AU slides under. To tidy the bottom of the EF/EL dash you can use the XH bench seat platsic that clips on and covers the showing speed nuts.

On this page is an example in an XH XR6

Fantastic. Thanks for that info Ash. I had done a search previously with no real luck. That looks quite good IMO and the idea of using XH dash plastics hadn't even occurred to me. Much appreciated.

Window switches won't be an issue at this point as she's only a pov pack GLi, but later down the tack perhaps. Thanks for the tip and I check out TimmyA's thread you pointed out.
