Hi, I have a couple of questions regarding AU Fairmont dashes.
Firstly, is there any difference between the series 1 and series 2/3 dash boards? I assume the shape and radio surround trims are the same? Secondly, I'm looking at a Fairmont dash from a series 1 AU, which is for my AUII Futura. Are they compatible? As far as I can figure you don't need anything for the trip computer and climate control units to function? Although I'm not sure if the BCM is required? Also I don't plan to get the instrument cluster from the AUI, I'm aware they aren't compatible :p Thanks for any help.

Series 1 and 2 are completely different, i wouldnt mix anything between the 2, to put a fairmont dash in and get all the climate control/cluster working you will need
AU2/3 Complete Dash (including the B.E.M, cluster, Climate control display and all wiring) AU2/3 fairmont/fairlane Heaterbox (willl need regassing when your done) AU2/3 Temp Senser (goes behind the front bar, will work without it but the climate control always displays 19 degress and im not 100% sure if the door locks and power windows will function properly without fairmont door and H looms

Thanks for that.
What about the physical shape of the dash board? And also the climate control and HUD, are they the same between series 1 and 2?

Thanks mate.
I thought the shape would have been the same, but there just isn't the opportunity to compare and stuff in Tasmania. There aren't any decent cars being wrecked privately or at wreckers It's a pain in the a*** about the climate control units being different, but it's rather typical that there are slight changes between series. I see your point about buying a complete AUII/III dash, but I doubt there'll be any up for grabs in the state anytime soon. And postage from the aminland wouldn't be cheap.. I might just buy the main dashboard and then source the smaller bits off Ebay and here over a bit of time. Thanks again for the info.

AU1 to 2 was a big electical change (Smartlock to Smart Sheild) like EB1 to EB2...

Yeah cheers mate, I was aware of that
I didn't realise my posts were making me seem like a boiled horse But thanks, I just wasn't aware that the climate control was different.. I also wasn't sure what had changed that related to the conversion, too. Luke
