OK,
I now have a set of AU series II fairmont seats and they are way more different than I was expecting. 1. no hole in the bollards for the lock pin to sit into. 2. Front rails are totally different that I can see. Tomorrow I'm going to see if I can swap the rails over and see if I can neatly work out where the bollards pin hole needs to be and make it. (although looking at this: It seems the easiest answer is to put the AU seat latch in place of the bolt.. I'll look into that tomorrow. If anyone has any tips, I'd love to hear them. On a side note, has anyone ever seen a black floor carpet for an EF/EL ??? The au seats are black with blue patterned inserts and it's a theme I'm planning to continue thoughout the interior. rgds Frank |

This is for the EL, I have a fairlane dash, all the ghia good bits and now AU seats..
Looks like the seats will be harder then I was anticipating, but no biggie I guess. Last edited by frankieh on Mon Feb 02, 2009 12:15 am, edited 1 time in total. |

Seats are mostly in...
I don't think these are fairmont seats like I was told.. the passanger seat doesn't have lumbar adjust and it doesn't have the fold down armrest in the rear (did they still do that in the AU?) Was much more time consuming swapping the whole seat underbody over than I was expecting.. I thought four bolts and you'd be done... not so much.. not difficult though and would have happended sooner had I done it before or had instructions.. still took over an hour to do both front... not too bad. Some photos.. Now I need to track down a black floor carpet and try to get some material that matches the inserts in the seats. The rear is almost done, have to find a better way to lock the bollards in place as they are just sitting there now.. but it looks ok and is much more comfy than the EL seat. I'm happy.. now to try and source some fairlane NF/NL electric lower seat carriage. rgds Franki |

Has the seating position (height) changed at all with the new seats?
I'm 6'2" and really want some lower seats. I hate only having approx 1" before my head hits the head lining. (without having the seat laid back like a VL that is) |

(without having the seat laid back like a VL that is) The brackets joining the rear seat base to the adjustment rail of my EL seats was snapped off the seat base, and when i looked at repairing them, i saw that i could rotate the bracket 180deg and weld in a spacer to effectively lower the rear part of the seat. I didn't actually measure how much i got, but it's significant. The seats are still a bit too high for me, but i'm 6'5".

What do you mean SR seats? do you mean xr?
The height seems about the same............. but then the running gear under the seat is entirely EL now so I wouldn't expect it to be too different.. (I'm 6 foot 4 myself and have to angle the seat back a ways to stop my head touching the roof.) |

Sorta like the falcon classic from what i can can gather, e.g. might have couple extras, but still just a base model at heart, sorta like the s packs from the e series.

I like the insert color pattern and will do the door inserts the same.. even if I change my mind later and put leathers in.. the inserts will still look nice. can't wait to pull this thing to bits and start putting all the good stuff on... |
