I've been told that the plastic interior trim around the small side windows on the AU-BA-BF utes can be difficult to remove without breaking it... Wondering if anyone has a method of removing it safely without breaking anything? I'm guessing the plastic trims around the seatbelts would also need to be removed to?
Reason being that I want to install rear speakers in my ute. Any help/tips/advice and maybe pics would be greatfully appreciated. Cheers.

the seat belt covers must come off first then the 'airplane window' panels just pop out from that side if I remember correctly. It's the seatbelt cover that people break, from au to bf. The top half pops off then the bottom half has two screws in the top and clips down the side. These both come out then the panels rearward come out.
I've had my ute interior apart heaps of times and haven't broken anything so it musn't be too hard

Many thanks for the replies...I'll give it a go as soon as I get new speakers. The correct size speakers for the rear of the AU ute would be 5x7 the same as the speakers in the doors wouldn't they?

Do you have the factory AU stereo in your ute? The one thing I'm still a little unsure about is how I wire the rear speakers up to the factory AU CD player.

It used to run a stock premium sound setup (two front speakers, two tweeters & two rear) so I just used the factory wiring. I'm now running two amps & an a/m head unit and basically just intercepted the factory wiring.

eclipse (made by fujitsu) SE570. I usually buy brand name gear but nothing was available in 5x7 at the time and I was actually so impressed I bought another 4 and did my BF mont aswell.

I removed all of the trim before but it looks like I won't be able to fit speakers in tthe back unless I make up some sort of bracket arrangement because it's all open befind the trim.
I might make something like this...  Or this...

minus the dynamat & speakers mines the factory setup revcore. you could throw in whatever you want but it won't line up with the factory mesh.
If you haven't got the factory mesh or bracket then I guess there is no point staying 5x7s. If I get a chance I'll post a photo with the trims back on so you get what I mean.

Yeah mine has the steel speaker mounts in it and the factory speaker grilles.
Honestly didnt know they come otherwise. In your position mate I would make up some good solid MDF baffles and put a pair of 6x9's in. They are cheap and should deliver reasonable bass having the cavity behind them.

Are the factory speaker mounts welded in or are they a screw in mount?
