Hay guys I have the AU2 grey interior and I don't really like it. Im thinking of getting it all painted black to how the au black interior is. The question is how much would this cost? Iv seen the vinyl paint but I know ill stuff it up if i try!

My other option is to buy an AU3 (the au2 has 114,000km), what do you reckon?

Speak to xCoppa or Falkeen. Both of them have done it. Go to a trimmers and get all your carpet re-done in black (~$200).

Then get some cans of VHT paint (Matt black - i think so it isnt that shiny/glarey). Take out as much stuff as you can, e.g. head unit, middle console, steering wheel, door trims, seats to make it easier for you. Then masking tape, and plastic bag everything that you dont wanna get paint on. Then just take your time, do it over a few days, lay a couple of coats. And you'll be sweet.

You can go the other option and get your dash decked out in leather. I know Brad has gotten a quote for $100 to leather the dash, which is pretty good. But then you have to care for the leather and clean it heaps.

You could sell and buy an AU3, and you'll get lesser kms. But it will only cost you about 300 odd, including carpet to get a whole black interior.

Goodluck with it, remember take your time. Just go without your car for a while.

Thanks the leather idea for only $100 sounds preety cheap and preety good. I don't trust myself painting and Im sure my dad wouldnt be happy if I needed to buy a new dash. I should probably keep the car I dont put many km's on it. Just im gonna buy a body kit wheels all the usualy do the interior, manual conversion and some work to the engine. The only thing I was thinking if when I do sell it this kind of car with less km's might sell alot better then say if I had 150,000-200,0000 km on the clock when im done.

The painting idea is tempting :D But after my attempt at the grill I think I shouldnt be allowed to paint again.

the VHT dye is not at all hard to spray with but in my personal experience it aint worth its weight on harder wearing surfaces. that said i think some of the other blokes have had success stories with it.

Get it re skinned.. i don't think paint would last or look very good. What model AU is it? AU2 also have black interior... i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure AU1 only had grey.
Your other option is to find a smashed au with a black interior from wreckers and swap em over.

Its a 2001 AU2 youd think it would of had a black interior. I had the choice betwen that car and a 2000 model with black interior but the colour of that car was orgonza gold which I did not like. Also because I chose my car and not the other i missed out on cruise which is very expensive to buy and mine had 10,000 more km... but thats the price you pay for your car to be coloured white.

I have been to a few wreckers but none of them have AU's.

The interior isnt as light as the au1 which was very yuck but its still grey which sucks.

even some of the AU1 forte's had black.

you would be best to find this stuff at a wreckers. we sold recently a complete black trim out of a AU series 3 sedan for $1000 remember you need to change all the plastics , seatbelts , console , carpets ect. ect.

and if you want cruise we can hook you up with a kit for either a 6cyl or V8 for $275 fit it yourself in a afternoon.
