Hi All,
My heater in my 1998 Fairlane is not working. I turn the temp up high and switch air con. off. I have had the heater tap replaced, now my mechanic suspects a fault in one of the vacuum lines that allows the heater tap to go from hot to cold. Is there a link on this website that can help me fix my heater? Its almost winter in Melbourne as we all know.

vacuum hose on heater tap looks ok - could it be the blender flap is stuck or an internal leak in the dash?

its only a small one, and have been know to fall off etc , The vacuum line to the heater tap is only to close the tap, not open it. The tap is normally open without vacuum.

Try this doc
{DESCRIPTION} Run diagnostics on CC and see if any error codes are present. The blend door is driven by a electric motor and are known to fail. Around $200 to buy, then the dash has to come out to replace it. Other thing to check are; Heater tap, is it fully opening Heater core may need flushing out Is the engine at normal operating temp (low temp thermostat)

I have got the problem fixed - sort of
the bottom line is that there is heat. my local Ford mechanic said the solenoid in the dash for the c/c system is not functioning properly. Some of the flaps are playing up - would cost around $700 to fix - im happy there is heat now
